Tyrone Huntley today announced the nominations for the 20th annual WhatsOnStage Awards via WhatsOnStage's social channels, the only major theatre prize-giving decided entirely by the theatregoers themselves. The announcement of the nominations marks the opening of the final voting stage (until 27 January), with winners announced at the annual Awards Concert held on 1 March 2020 at the Prince of Wales Theatre.
Two River Theater, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, will kick off the new year with Shakespeare's romantic comedy Twelfth Night, directed by Sara Holdren with original songs composed by the band/theater collective The Lobbyists. Nuffield Southampton Theatres today announces the full company of CinderELLA The Musical. Michael Fentiman directs Valda Aviks (Ella), Emma Darlow (Melania) Tom Hier (Prince Charming and Policeman), Michael O'Connor (Harry), Jos Slovick (Daniel Deeni), Imelda Warren-Green (Ivanka) and Lydia White (Cinders). This new adaptation of the classic myth features two protagonists, the younger Cinders who feels old beyond her years and the older Ella who remembers when she danced as a girl at the Midnight Ballroom. The production opens at Nuffield Southampton Theatres – NST City on 29 November, with previews from 23 November, and runs until 5 January 2020.
