Westport Country Playhouse Appoints New Director Of Development

Gretchen T. Wright has joined Westport Country Playhouse as director of development, effective March 4, 2019.  She will be responsible for the professional, non-profit theater's annual sustaining support from public and private constituencies, including corporations, government agencies, foundations, and individual donors.

Hagen Quartet Returns To Zankel Hall For Performances

The acclaimed Hagen Quartet plays two exciting programs in Zankel Hall in March 2019. On Friday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m., they are joined by clarinetist and composer Jorg Widmann for the United States premiere of his Clarinet Quintet (co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall for its 125 Commissions Project) and Mozart's Clarinet Quintet, both featuring the composer as clarinetist. Also on the program are selections from Dvorak's Cypresses. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., there is a pre-concert talk with Jorg Widmann and Hagen Quartet violinist Rainer Schmidt in conversation with Jeremy Geffen, Senior Director and Artistic Adviser, Carnegie Hall.

Blumenthal Performing Arts Welcomes New Board Of Trustees Members

Blumenthal Performing Arts is pleased to announce the appointment of four new members to its Board of Trustees. John Giannuzzi, Portia MacKinnon, Susanne McGuire and Courtney Rogers were confirmed to the board during Blumenthal's Annual Meeting at Knight Theater in January.

Harris Center Presents An Evening With Ron Paul

The 2018-19 Folsom Lake College Speakers Series commences on March 12, 2019 with An Evening with Ron Paul. Dr. Paul ran for President of the United States three times - as the Libertarian Party candidate in 1988 and the Republican Party candidate in 2008 and 2012, at which time he received 190 delegate votes at the Republican Convention. Serving in Congress during the 1970-80s, he served on the House Banking Committee. An unwavering advocate of pro-life and pro-family values, he voluntarily relinquished his House seat in 1984 and returned to his medical practice. He returned to Congress in 1997, serving on the House Financial Services and Foreign Affairs Committees. He is the author of several bestselling books.

Queer|Art Awards Inaugural Eva Yaa Asantewaa Grant For Queer Women(+) Dance Artists

Queer|Art, New York City's home for the creative and professional development of LGBTQ+ artists, is pleased to announce the winner of the inaugural Eva Yaa Asantewaa Grant For Queer Women(+) Dance Artists, Jennifer Harge. Harge will receive a $10,000 cash grant to support the development period of Fly | Drown, a new performance installation set to premiere in Detroit in Fall 2019.

Celebrate 90 Years Of World Class Dance At Wayne State University's December Dance Concert

The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance, a program within the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts at Wayne State University, is thrilled to kick off our year-long 90 Years of Dance at Wayne celebration with the annual December Dance Concert, December 7 and 8 at Detroit's Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts.  This year's show promises diverse and moving works showcasing highlights of dance through the decades. Dance students have the pleasure of working with a variety of talented artists, including invited guests, esteemed faculty, and talented student choreographers.

Recognize Theatre To Present EXPOSED at MCS Theatre

Recognize Theatre will present a new performance of their play Exposed, conceived and directed by Kristin Heckler and written in collaboration with the actors, Jacob Sebastian Philips, Sarah Raimondi, and Pauline Sherrow, at the MCS Theatre (357 West 36th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues, 2nd floor), February 8-24, 2019.

This Dancer's Life: NB2's MOLLY YEO

Molly Yeo began dancing at four years old, while living in North Carolina - moving overseas with her family as an adolescent, where she trained in traditional Indonesian dance, subsequently studying internationally in Jakarta, Singapore, Malaysia and New Zealand. Returning to the states for high school, she trained at the Ballet School of Chapel Hill and with Duke University's dance department, ultimately performing with the Chapel Hill Dance Theater and appearing in Carolina Ballet's production of Giselle.

Coeurage Theatre Company Presents VENDETTA CHROME By Sylvan Oswald

Coeurage Theatre Company, LA's Pay What You Want theatre company, has announced the final production of its ninth season, Vendetta Chrome by Sylvan Oswald, directed by Sara Lyons. There will be one preview performance on Friday, November 23, at 8pm and opening is set for Saturday, November 24, at 8pm. Vendetta Chrome will play through December 15 at the Lex Theatre in Hollywood.

New Perspectives Theatre Company And The School for Drama At the New School Presents The Works of Teresa Deevy

On Her Shoulders is pleased to present staged readings of three plays by Irish dramatist Teresa Deevy, directed by Kristin Heckler on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. Doors open at 6:45pm for a 7:00pm start with The Play in Context by Melody Brooks, who situates the scripts in their historical time and place, followed by the readings and a post-performance Q&A with refreshments. Admission is by Donation ($10 suggested). The performance is at The New School: Starr Foundation Hall, University Center, 63 Fifth Avenue, Room UL102.
