STEEPLECHASE, a new dark comedy by Chris Nelson with direction by Maridee Slater begins as part of New York Theater Festival's Summerfest at Hudson Guild Theater (441 West 26th Street) on Monday August 19th with subsequent performances on August 23rd and 25th. The cast includes Valerie Redd*, James O'Hagan-Murphy*, Amy Laird Webb, Rob McDermott, Joel Reyer, Schuyler Van Amson, Tyra Hardy, Cristina Lucas* and Allison Pappas. *(Member of Actors Equity). Costume design is by Corina Chase. Lighting and set design are by John Salutz.
At the June 17 Annual Meeting, Trinity Repertory Company's Board of Trustees elected seven new trustees to three-year terms: Judhajit De, Sergio M. Gonzalez, Sean Holley, James Hurley, Lawrence J. The American Dance Festival (ADF) continues its summer offerings with the return of Pilobolus to Page Auditorium in a program of classic works. ADF and the Nasher Museum of Art will co-present the ADF-commissioned The Duet Project: Distance is Malleable, Eiko Otake's collaboration with the artists Beverly McIver, Alexis Moh, DonChristian Jones, and Mark McCloughan.
On August 8th, 2014, THE IMBIBLE: A SPIRITED HISTORY OF DRINKING opened at the New York International Fringe Festival for what was supposed to be a five-performance run. After sold-out FringeNYC and Fringe Encore engagements, a front-page feature in the Arts section of The New York Times, and three hit sequels, the production is now in an open run at New World Stages.

Heritage Theatre Festival at The University of Virginia has announced the appointment of Jen Rogers as Managing Director. Rogers, a highly-successful arts management professional, comes to Heritage from PlayMakers Repertory Company, the professional theatre at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where she worked as General Manager in partnership with Jenny Wales, who is now entering her second season as HTF Artistic Director.
If you were fortunate enough to be one of the many who caught the touring production of the Tony Award-winning musical DEAR EVAN HANSEN during its Southern California stops at L.A.'s Ahmanson Theatre or, more recently, at O.C.'s Segerstrom Center of the Arts this past January, then you, no doubt, would remember Broadway veteran Aaron Lazar, the handsome and very talented man tasked with the role of Larry Murphy, the distant but distraught father to a suicidal teenager. The role has earned him much-deserved universal praise, not only for such a thoughtful, searing acting performance but also for his obvious singing prowess. Those powerful pipes were on full display this past weekend, where Costa Mesa's Segerstrom Center once again played host to Lazar, this time for a splendid solo cabaret set entitled BROADWAY TO HOLLYWOOD that entertained audiences for three nightly performances, April 11-13.

HYPERCUBE presents the U.S. premiere of Eric Wubbels' Voided Cross (for Michael Heizer), a high-intensity 45-minute work that saturates the boundaries of space, ear, room, and time on Tuesday, May 7th at 8pm at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music. Scored for saxophone, electric guitar, piano/accordion/synth, and percussion, HYPERCUBE pushes the limits of sound and execution in bringing this work to life, bridging electronic and acoustic worlds.
