Brooklyn performance and civic space JACK announces a live-streamed forum on Facebook featuring three candidates for the open New York State Senate seat (currently held by Velmanette Montgomery) in District 25, which comprises Fort Greene, Boerum Hill, Red Hook, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Sunset Park, Gowanus, and Park Slope, among other neighborhoods. The forum will be moderated by JACK founder/Co-Director Alec Duffy and is so far the only planned candidate forum for this race.

On Friday, May 1, 2020, the Wet Ink Ensemble releases Glossolalia/Lines on Black on Carrier Records. The release features two extended works by Ensemble composers Sam Pluta and Alex Mincek: Mincek's Glossolalia and Pluta's Lines on Black. Performer/members of the Wet Ink Ensemble include Erin Lesser, flutes; Josh Modney, violin; Kate Soper, voice; Alex Mincek, saxophone; Eric Wubbels, piano; Ian Antonio, percussion; and Sam Pluta, electronics.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts is celebrating International Women's Month on Saturday, March 21 on the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza with a FREE event where you can meet inspiring female creators and indulge your own DIY spirit at Rock, Paper, Scissors: ¡DAMAS! Live music pulsating from the Argyros Plaza stage will provide an energetic soundtrack to inspire your creativity. The pop-rock sisters of the Sledge Grits Band will kick off the afternoon, followed by Go Betty Go and their punk rock, rough and tumble sound. Between sets, join us for an open forum conversation with several prominent SoCal women artists and innovators about creativity and what drives them. Try your hand at some art of your own with a colorful mixed media collage workshop led by local artist Trinh Mai. And don't forget to stop by the Segerstrom Center booth and create a pin with our special button-making machine!
