Black Arts MKE's beloved holiday musical returns for its seventh year with its biggest and best production to date. Black Nativity by Langston Hughes runs one weekend only - December 8-11, 2022, at the Wilson Theater at Vogel Hall, Marcus Center.

After a delayed opening, Toni Stone is finally game-on at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater. Directed by Tinashe Kajese-Bolden, it's the biographical telling of the first woman to go pro in baseball's negro leagues, Marcenia 'Toni' Stone. Hers is a story of overcoming the odds and shattering expectations. Toni Stone, written by Lydia R. Diamond, was declared the Best New Play of 2019 by the Wall Street Journal.

Milwaukee Rep has announced the complete cast and creative teams for the start of 2022 with Toni Stone in the Quadracci Powerhouse January 4 – 30 and Piano Men in the Stackner Cabaret January 7 – February 27.

Milwaukee Rep will present SoundStage MKE an audio play walking tour set against the backdrop of Milwaukee’s Downtown. Milwaukee native and Indigenous playwright Marisa Carr (Reconciliations), writer Deanie Vallone, sound designer and composer Andre Pluess and director May Adrales take listeners on an aural journey through the streets of the city.

Milwaukee Rep will present several options to enjoy unique theater experiences and live entertainment safely outdoors including three Summer Concerts and SoundStage MKE, an audio play walking tour.

​​​​​​​Milwaukee Rep finalist Yexuanj Rivera Melendez, from Milwaukee High School of the Arts, finished in the top six in the National August Wilson Monologue Competition (AWMC) winning a $500 scholarship.

The production is helmed by Chicago-based director Mikael Burke and features the talents of Milwaukee natives DiMonte Henning as Winston and Sherrick Robinson as John.

Following six months of close collaboration, Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) has approved Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (MCT) to gather actors and stage managers in person to produce plays for virtual capture and distribution.

Milwaukee Rep presents We Rise: MKE’s Celebration of Black History Month with four Facebook Live events every Monday night in February at 7pm CT. The celebration is in honor of the rich contributions that African American artists, administrators, audiences, and board members have made to the growth, strength and development of Milwaukee Rep.
