The Mabel Mercer Foundation Celebrates The 30th Annual New York Cabaret Convention

In a combined triumph for the Classic Popular Songbook, its purveyors and adherents, and the professionalism and perseverance of THE MABEL MERCER FOUNDATION, the unique organization presents its 30th Annual New York Cabaret Convention at The Rose Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center, beginning Monday, October 28th and running through Thursday, October 31st. The four individual concerts will be offered at 6:00 PM each evening, and more than seventy-five vocalists and musicians are scheduled to perform. Tickets are now on sale at the Jazz at Lincoln Center box office and www.jazz.org.

Last night, Sheldon Harnick received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Songbook Association! Performers included Kissy Simmons, Klea Blackhurst, Adam Heller, Danny Bacher, Samantha Massell, Melanie Moore, Alexandra Silber, Brad Oscar, Liz Callaway, Jeff Harnar & Alex Rybeck, Alan Schmuckler, Jeffrey Saver and Rhyn Mclemore Saver, Ed Dixon, Sidney Myer, Judy Kuhn, Robert Cuccioli, and Steven Skybell.

Deborah Grace Winer wraps up the second season of her Classic American Songbook Series at Feinstein's/54 Below on Sunday, June 16th at 7:00pm and 9:30pm with FEELING WICKED: The Magical Side of the American Songbook featuring JENN GAMBATESE (School of Rock,) SYDNEY JAMES HARCOURT (Hamilton,) MATTHEW SCOTT (An American in Paris) and EMILY SKINNER (The Cher Show.) Written and hosted by Deborah Grace Winer, and in time for Father's Day, this celebration of Broadway's love affair with the magical and miraculous is directed by Mark Waldrop, with an all-star trio led by Mark Hummel (musical director and piano), with Dick Sarpola on bass and Ray Marchica, percussion.

In its 114 year life the Dutch Treat Club has had a membership that included, Jimmy Cagney, George S. Kaufman, Walter Cronkite, Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein ll, and Presidents Hoover, Eisenhower, Truman, and Ford. The great Broadway producer George Abbot was a member for 52 years when he died at the age of 107. But enough about the past. This year this historic New York City institution which was founded by and for creative people decided to honor someone young, creative and contemporary, so they chose...Marilyn Maye…an artist for every generation.
