The sun will shine again, this time on a musical about Tammy Faye Bakker. A musical that has been in development stages for years may finally be preparing to head to Broadway with Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth at the helm.

The New York Drama Critics' Circle today named The Ferryman by Jez Butterworth best play of the 2018-19 season. The award for best musical went to Tootsie. What the Constitution Means to Me by Heidi Schreck was named best American play. The selections were made at the organization's 84th annual voting meeting.

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announces 11 awards granted from their Frank Young Fund for New Musicals(formerly known as the National Fund for New Musicals), and six awards granted from their Innovation & Exploration Fund.

GHOSTLIGHT RECORDS has announced that Be More Chill: Original Broadway Cast Recording will be released for digital download and streaming tomorrow, May 3. This new album completes a remarkable full-circle journey for Be More Chill, as the original recording from Ghostlight (which has now been streamed over 300 million times to date) helped propel the show from Two River Theater to a viral Broadway hit. CD and vinyl releases are planned for later this year. Starting today, Friday, April 26, customers who pre-order the digital album will immediately receive a download of the single 'More Than Survive.' The album is produced by Kurt Deutsch, Joe Iconis, and Charlie Rosen, and co-produced by Ian Kagey and Emily Marshall.

Broadway's new Comedy Musical, TOOTSIE, opened to critical acclaim last night at the Marquis Theatre - and people can't stop talking about Dorothy Michaels! The toast of the town, Dorothy recently stopped by Live with Kelly & Ryan, The View and ABC's Backstage with Sandy Kenyon.
