According to a note on The Firehouse Theatre’s website, dated November 20, 2020, Artistic and Education Director has formally resigned from his duties at the theatre. New leadership positions have not been announced.

For the first time in its 60-year history, The Washington Chorus (TWC) will present its annual holiday concert “A Candlelight Christmas” as a virtual event. Recorded without an audience at the Music Center at Strathmore and streamed from December 18-20 via Vimeo through the TicketSpice platform.

David Moore has been appointed Interim President of Dramatists Play Service, taking the reins from Peter Hagan, who announced his impending retirement in January of this year. Hagan served for seven years as only the sixth President of the 84 year old company, founded in 1936 by the Dramatists Guild of America and a group of prominent play agents.

Broadway composer/lyricist/author/musical director/vocal arranger/dance arranger/orchestrator/accompanist, best known for composing The Tornado, and Emerald City Ballet in the Broadway hit 'The Wiz,' Timothy Graphenreed, passed away March 1, 2020, at Mt. Sinai at the age of 68.

Word for Word continues their 2020 Season with the debut of their new podcast, the  WORD for WORDcast. The three premier episodes feature  E.M. Forstera??s 'The Machine Stops' and will be released from September 17-October 1.

When Eugene Rogers became the fifth artistic director of The Washington Chorus in February, he wasn't counting on the worldwide pandemic to explode every plan just weeks later. City Parks Foundation (CPF) is pleased to announce their 2019 Gala fundraiser, taking place Thursday, September 26 in Central Park. The Oscar-Qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival saw a record 6,000 submissions from over 80 countries for their 15th anniversary. The organizers are thrilled to announce that over 400 films from 30 different countries will compete for this year's top prizes during the festival's 10-day run from August 8-17 at TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood. Last year, four HollyShorts finalists were nominated for an Academy Award with three bringing home the gold, including the Best Live Action Short a?oeSkina?? from filmmakers Andrew Carlberg, Guy Nattiv, and Jaime Ray Newman.

Ember Ensemble Concert in the Village to Celebrate the Wisdom of Aging through Song A return to simplicity ? and the possibility of sharing its joyful wisdom as we age ? is the focus of the Ember ensemble concert titled 'A Second Simplicity' that will take place on Saturday, May 18th in NYC and Sunday, May 19th in Montclair, NJ.

The Ember Ensemble will perform with NYC Encore Creativity for Older Adults Chorale on March 2nd and 3rd  in a concert titled Carpe Diem!, translated literally as “pluck the day (as it is ripe!)”.

'Every year around this time of year, people come to hear the story…' And that's the way it's been for the last 43 years as audiences have come to see the Theatre in the Park production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL and Ira David Wood III as Scrooge. The show opens this Wednesday at the Durham Performing Arts Center. Adapted by Ira David Wood III, this version of  A CHRISTMAS CAROL follows the traditional Dickens story, with a bit of updated humor. The miserly Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by three ghosts the night before Christmas. The apparitions are a telling reminder of Christmases past and a foreshadowing of Christmases to come.

It was announced today that Four-time Oscar®-nominated actor Ethan Hawke has signed on the New Orleans-set heist movie CUT THROAT CITY, directed by RZA (of the Wu Tang Clan). The film also stars Terrence Howard, Wesley Snipes, Eiza González, Kat Graham, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Joel David Moore, Isiah Washington, Keean Johnson, Sam Daly, Denzel Whitaker, Rob Morgan, Rich Paul, Demetrius Shipp Jr. and Shameik Moore. Well Go USA preemptively acquired North American rights earlier this year for the picture for a nationwide theatrical release in 2019. XYZ Films is handling international sales.

Monterey Jazz Festival kicks off the weekend's activities on Thursday, September 20 with another edition of the "Concert on the Lawn" at the Monterey County Fairgrounds, with Monterey Jazz Festival's Next Generation Jazz Orchestra performing a free 45-minute set for 500 students enrolled in Monterey County schools. The concert will start at 11am on Thursday, September 20 at the Garden Stage at the Monterey County Fair & Event Center.
