The Hangar Theatre has announced its full 2022 Summer Season lineup. Artistic Director Shirley Serotsky (she/her) and Managing Director R.J. Lavine (they/she) are working with the Hangar staff to produce a roster of Mainstage theatrical experiences that include an unprecedented four musical theatre offerings, three regional premieres, and a diverse and exciting range of stories, that will take audiences around the world.

Originally planned to take the stage in spring 2020 and delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Tantrum Theater, Ohio University's professional theater in the College of Fine Arts, will produce OHIO alumnus Dave Malloy's Tony Award-winning musical “Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812.”

Manhattan School of Music will present a workshop presentation of Don’t Stop Me, a new musical by Dave Malloy and Krista Knight directed by Chloe Treat at the Riverside Church Theatre (91 Claremont Ave New York, NY 10027), February 17-20.

Producer Christopher Maring will present a return engagement of The Lucille Lortel Award-winning and critically-acclaimed Ars Nova production of Rags Parkland Sings the Songs of the Future, at the Space at Irondale (85 S Oxford St, Brooklyn, NY) on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.

Wilbury Theatre Group is among The Champlin Foundation's latest round of grantees and has received a grant of $185,745 to fund the build-out of a new performance space at WaterFire Arts Center, including the soundproofing of the flexible black box theater, backstage renovations, and necessary electrical and HVAC modifications. The Champlin Foundation supports the capital needs of Rhode Island non-profits -- funding that is often the hardest to raise.

Broadway star, songwriter and Hoboken local Margo Seibert comes to MST with her original solo show Emergence. Seibert presents an evening of musical theatre, folk rock, and her own original music. Emergence explores our transformation as we emerge from the pandemic and remember that we are undoubtedly better together.

The return season of Antipodes Theatre Company's inaugural production, Dave Malloy's Ghost Quartet, runs through 20 November at Meat Market Stables in North Melbourne. Originally produced in August 2019, this production received rave reviews across the board and was nominated for two Green Room Awards. 

Phillipa Soo has been announced to join Andy Fickman's new romantic drama One True Loves. The movie will also star Simu Liu and Luke Bracey. The film is the screen adaption of Taylor Jenkin Reid's bestselling novel of the same name.

DIG DEEP, a new play written and produced by Stephen McCall - distinguished military veteran (U.S. Air Force), currently serving as a senior advisor for the U.S. Congress - will make its debut at The Triad Theater on October 22, 2021.

CRUSH, a VR puppet play by Krista Knight, is one of the winners of the inaugural Broadway on Demand Film Festival, a short film festival created to honor the groundbreaking ways creators approach theatre in a digital age and socially-distant world. The award-winning short film will be streamed on the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences' Emmy OTT platform this fall. 

Broadway is officially back, to the joy of all theatre-makers and theatre-lovers. However, this isn’t the world in which Broadway existed before its intermission. In the past eighteen months, more and more people have come to realize that Broadway is not the be-all, end-all of theatre, and they’re recognizing that Broadway success does not automatically determine the quality of any work. In fact, Broadway isn’t exactly the place for new, non-traditional ideas.

The New York Youth Symphony Musical Theater Songwriting Program (NYYS) and Director Anna K. Jacobs have announced the 2021/2022 Season. Heading into its fourth season the NYYS Musical Theater Songwriting program is specially designed to lead students through a range of musical theater songwriting processes. 

Birdland Theater will present a special evening with New York-based, Honduran-American violinist Marissa Licata on September 13 at 8:30 PM. In her New York solo concert debut, Licata will present “Strings on Fire” featuring her all-star band: Jerry Sabatini on trumpet, Matt Marcus on piano, John Miller on bass, Shannon Ford on drums, and special guest blues icon James Montgomery on harmonica and vocals.

American Repertory Theatre has released never-before-seen archival footage of the monumental musical, Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812, from the show's pre-Broadway run!

The Hamilton star will serve as a series regular on the show, which is based on the novel of the same name by Lauren Beukes.
