Special Offer: Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812

Berkeley Repertory Theatre’s Artistic Director Johanna Pfaelzer and Director of the Ground Floor Madeleine Oldham announced the Residency Lab participants and the return to full capacity of the Residency Lab portion of The Ground Floor: Berkeley Rep’s Center for the Creation and Development of New Work.

After a full spring/summer packed with productions, Theatre Raleigh closes out their 2022 Main Stage Season with their final production, Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812.

Earlier this week, Tony-nominated composer Dave Malloy, along with comic and author Isaac Oliver and director Jason Eagan, debuted a short musical celebrating the opening of the new Hermès store on Madison Ave. See video from the production.

Signature Theatre will present Quiara Alegría Hudes’ My Broken Language, the acclaimed playwright’s stage adaptation of her eponymous memoir, and her return to Signature for the second play in her Premiere Residency. My Broken Language takes place Oct 18-Nov 27, 2022 in the Pershing Square Signature Center’s Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre.

Lincoln Center Theater/LCT3 will present the world premiere production of YOUR OWN PERSONAL EXEGESIS, a new play by Julia May Jonas, directed by Annie Tippe, which will begin performances Saturday, November 19 and run for six weeks only through Saturday, December 31 at the Claire Tow Theater.  Opening night is Monday, December 5.

Ars Nova and PlayCo will present the world premiere of HOUND DOG by 2019 Ars Nova resident artist Melis Aker. Directed by Machel Ross with music by Aker and the Lazours, this cross-cultural jam-session-meets-play explores the winding path towards forgiveness and belonging.

Ars Nova has announced details for its 20th Anniversary Season, which introduces the What’s Ars Is Yours: Name Your Price ticket initiative.

New York-based, Honduran-American violinist MARISSA LICATA and her new band The Ragtag Collection will welcome special guest vocalist Kuhoo Verma (Octet, Plan B on Hulu) for their debut at The Cutting Room on Monday, August 1 at 7:00 PM.

The Hangar Theater will present Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812.  After recent success off-broadway, this regional premiere of Dave Malloy's re-imagined love story from the heart of War and Peace will dazzle Hangar audiences underneath the newly covered Hangar Outdoor Stage.  

Violinist MARISSA LICATA and her new band The Ragtag Collection will debut at The Cutting Room on Monday, August 1 at 7:00 PM. The Ragtag Collection features Bob Lanzetti (Snarky Puppy) on guitar, Dan Oestreicher (Trombone Shorty) on saxophone, Will Slater (Terri Lyne Carrington) on bass, and Joey Peebles (Trombone Shorty) on drums.

signature Theatre’s SigSpace will present the first-ever installation from Quiara Alegría Hudes and Sean Ortiz’s Emancipated Stories project, designed by Yazmany Arboleda with Emmanuel Oni and featuring letter-writing sessions and pop-up performances produced in collaboration with The Fortune Society.

Richard Rodgers Award Winner Brandon James Gwinn (TL;DR: Thelma Louise;Dyke Remix, Trixie Mattel’s Moving Parts), Dylan Hartwell (NEWSical, A Musical About Star Wars) and Greg Sullivan (Seussical, Naked Boys Singing) will bring encore performances of their hilarious show Three Men and a Baby Grand to The Laurie Beechman.

Second Stage Theater has announced two new productions for its upcoming 2022-23 Season. When Dave Malloy’s NATASHA, PIERRE, & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 closed on Broadway in late 2017, fans of the show (myself included) lamented when, or if, it would be possible to see any iteration of this show again. Thanks to the Wilbury Theatre Group, our hopes have been answered! Known for its eclectic score, ranging through music styles from electronic dance music to folk, GREAT COMET featured a 360 degree, interactive experience no matter where one sat in the theatre. And, with a cast who could act, sing, and play instruments, it seemed unlikely that the show would ever have legs in a regional setting. Fortunately, the Wilbury Theatre Group is more than up to the challenge.
