ACT (A Contemporary Theatre) of Connecticut has announced their fourth and final production of the 2021-2022 season – Jonathan Larson’s RENT.  This Broadway smash hit musical will feature an all-star cast of performers.

Three queens of the small screen assemble for an evening of delightful tea-spilling when An Evening With The Celebrity Housewives Featuring Caroline Manzo (RHONJ), Vicki Gunvalson (RHOOC) and Jill Zarin (RHONY) comes to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Wednesday, May 18th.

On Friday, April 1, I had the pleasure of seeing the ACT of CT’s unique adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR.  This 1971 musical that is primarily told through music with lyrics by Tim Rice has been redesigned and reinterpreted by the director, Daniel C. Levine who has incorporated elements of The Handmaid’s Tale into this adaptation.

NICKEL MINES is a new musical centered around the 2006 Lancaster, PA Amish schoolhouse shooting in which a lone gunman shot ten girls (five fatally) before taking his own life. This breathtaking piece of theater explores multiple perspectives from that fateful morning, is a living memorial to the young girls who tragically lost their lives, and is a powerful exploration of community, perseverance, and hope.  

January 17, 2022 marks the 26th anniversary of Ridgefield's Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration, honoring the legacy of the great civil rights leader with an awards ceremony, speakers and performances.

Broadway Records announced today that the world premiere recording of Stephen Schwartz’s Snapshots: A Musical Scrapbook, from the legendary Broadway and film composer Stephen Schwartz, and writer David Stern, is now available on all digital platforms.

Directed and choreographed by Broadway veteran, Stephanie Pope Lofgren (Pippin, Chicago), the electrifying musical celebration of 1950’s Rock n’ Roll began performances Thursday, September 30, 2021 and continues through Sunday, October 24, 2021 at ACT of CT (36 Old Quarry Road, Ridgefield, CT 06877).

ACT of Connecticut will welcome audiences back for their 2021-2022 Season with the record-breaking Broadway smash-hit musical revue, Smokey Joe's Cafe - The Songs of Leiber and Stoller.

Theaters, clubs, promoters and other eligible arts businesses can apply for 45% of the gross revenue they made in 2019, to offset financial losses caused last year by the pandemic.

Following the success of this May’s production of Into The Woods In Concert, ACT of CT’s summer camp and teen productions will be similarly themed.
