Northern Stage has revealed its 2026/27 Season, featuring five Main Stage productions in the Byrne Theater at the Barrette Center for the Arts, including the regional premiere of John Proctor is the Villain and more.

Jen Silverman’s The Roommate is a tight two-hander about two empty-nesters who move in together due to economic necessity (and other, spoilery reasons), and end up in a situation neither could have predicted.  The Odd Couple + The Golden Girls seems like the obvious sources of inspiration here, but this play takes a hard pivot that is both surprising and hilarious.  Under the expert direction of Curt Columbus–his last show as Artistic Director, the pace is quick and the laughs are abundant.

​Trinity Repertory Company will kick off 2026 with The Roommate by Jen Silverman, directed by outgoing Artistic Director Curt Columbus. The contemporary dark comedy will be the final show Columbus directs at Trinity Rep's Lederer Theater Center as Artistic Director.  

Trinity Repertory Company has broken ground on a transformative $40 million renovation of its historic Lederer Theater Center, marking the most significant facility project in the company’s history.

Trinity Rep will stage its 49th annual production of A Christmas Carol from November 6–December 31, 2025, in the Dowling Theater. Directed by Richard and Sharon Jenkins, the production features Stephen Thorne as Scrooge.

Curt Columbus will conclude his two-decade tenure as Artistic Director of Trinity Repertory Company in Fall 2026. Known for championing bold new plays, local stories, and nationally recognized initiatives in diversity and education, Columbus has shaped the theater’s artistic vision since 2006. A nationwide search for his successor is now underway.

Trinity Repertory Company will open its 2025-26 Season with Cold War Choir Practice by Ro Reddick, a dark comedic thriller with original music, directed by Aileen Wen McGroddy.
