Today, The 24 Hour Plays, creators of The 24 Hour Plays on Broadway, The 24 Hour Musicals and the Viral Monologues, announced this year’s company for The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals, which will be held as a virtual program.

Broadcast live from Goodman Theatre’s intimate Owen Theatre, THE SOUND INSIDE intrigues because of the twists and turns in Adam Rapp’s script, but also because it combines cinematic-quality streaming with the thrill of live theater. It’s been over a year since I last stepped inside a theater, and now with the first limited run production in its LIVE series, the Goodman has come extremely close to capturing the exhilaration of being live and in the room with theater. Running only for four more performances through Sunday, May 16, THE SOUND INSIDE is indeed a unique and limited-edition experience. 

Today, The 24 Hour Plays announced that the 10th annual application for The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals will be available starting March 24, 2021 and will run through April 11, 2021. The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals will take place virtually (for the second year in a row) and applicants from everywhere are engaged to apply. 

Full casting was announced today for PrideArts’ January 26 reading of Tarell Alvin McCraney’s MARCUS; OR THE SECRET OF SWEET. Curtain time will be 7 pm. Christian Helem, who recently directed Stage Left Theatre’s virtual production of THE PROJECT(S), is directing.

DYING CITY runs January 15th through 25th, 2021 at Penguin Point Productions' venue, located in the Oviedo Mall at 1220 Oviedo Mall Blvd in Oviedo. Performances are at 7:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays with Sunday matinee performances beginning at 2:00pm.

Full casting was announced today for PrideArts’ virtual reading of Christopher Shinn’s OTHER PEOPLE, a comedy set around the holidays in New York City’s East Village, involving relationships past and present among four men and one woman. Chicago actor and director Tim Ashby, who will direct the reading, announced his cast today.

Following the previously announced January 12 reading of Shakespeare’s TWELFTH NIGHT will be a reading of Christopher Shinn’s OTHER PEOPLE, a comedy set around the holidays in New York City’s East Village involving relationships past and present among four men and one woman.

The release of Dom O’Hanlon’s Theatre in Times of Crisis: 20 Scenes for the Stage in Troubled Times is certainly timely, even without COVID. Written in response to the coronavirus pandemic, the collection of twenty play excerpts compiled by the Senior Commissioning Editor of Methuen Drama explores the theme of crisis in plays previously staged.
