Coronado Playhouse ends its 73rd season with the award-winning, high-energy production of Mamma Mia!, opening Friday, November 8 and playing through Sunday, December 15, 2019. Fall in love with the characters, the story, and the music that make Mamma Mia! the ultimate feel-good show. This sunny, funny, sensational story, with a book by Catherine Johnson, is told through the magic of ABBA's timeless music and explosive dance numbers. Music and lyrics are by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, the musical writing team and the 'guy-half' of ABBA, that brought us the hits you know and love, like 'Dancing Queen,' 'Thank You for the Music,' 'Money, Money Money,' 'Take A Chance on Me,' and the title song 'Mamma Mia!'.

My, my! It's officially been eighteen years since the dancing queens of Mamma Mia! opened at Broadway's Winter Garden Theatre. Venice Theatre's MainStage Series will present the ABBA-themed musical Mamma Mia! Friday Oct. 25, 2019 through Sunday Dec. 1, 2019. Tuesday through Saturday performances start at 7:30 p.m. Sunday performances are at 2 p.m. During the week of Thanksgiving, there will be no shows on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and Thursday, Nov. 28. There is no evening show on Saturday, Nov. 30 due to the Venice Holiday Parade. There will be a 2 p.m. matinee on that day instead.

 Music Theater Works has announced its 2020 schedule under incoming Producing Artistic Director Kyle A. Dougan. The season opens with the ABBA musical MAMMA MIA! (June 6-14), followed by RAGTIME (August 22-30), RICHARD RODGERS' GREATEST HITS with Hammerstein, Hart and others (October 2-11), and BILLY ELLIOT (December 26-January 3).

For fans of the music of Abba, MAMMA MIA! is a show you will love. Julia Lennon shines in the leading role of Sophie, bringing more to this character than I have ever seen before. With excellent choreography and dancing, this performance at Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport, CT is one that I highly recommend.

In its opening show of the 2019-2020 season, The Players Club of Swarthmore presents Mamma Mia, the ultimate feel- good musical comedy. Mamma Mia! 'Here we go again.' There is now another production in Central New York of this hit jukebox musical based on the songs of ABBA. This time around it is a delightful production at the picturesque Cortland Repertory Theatre in Preble, New York. For a musical that is repeatedly (sometimes too much) performed throughout the country, the Cortland Rep production, directed by Kerby Thompson, is quite fresh, powerful, and exciting.
