59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) is will host the NYC premiere of THE SABBATH GIRL written by Cary Gitter and directed by Joe Brancato. Produced by Penguin Rep, THE SABBATH GIRL begins performances on Tuesday, February 11 for a limited engagement through Sunday, March 8. Press opening is Sunday, February 16 at 2:15 pm. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Friday at 7:15 pm; Saturday at 2:15 pm & 7:15 pm; Sunday at 2:15 pm. Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). In only it's second year, the Wet Paint - New Play Festival has managed to round up B'way veterans (Johanna Leister, Layan Elwazani), TV stars (Christopher Shyer, Rachel Handler), & Amazon Best-Selling authors (Edward Medina) to participate in a barebones development series of short-performances. This year's festival has a theme: Walls, and with that theme, Point-Blank Theatre Co. received a unique submission. William Hobbs, a member of Voices Inside, an inmate writing/theatre program at Northpoint Training Center in KY, submitted his play, A Spider's Web and was accepted among dozens of NYC playwright applicants.

Playing On Air announced today the three winners of the inaugural James Stevenson Prize for comedic short plays. First Prize ($7,500, plus a Playing On Air recording for radio and podcast distribution) has been awarded to Hate Baby by Gracie Gardner. (Gardner is also the winner of the 2017 Relentless Award and author of the New York Times Critic's Pick Athena.) Second Prize ($2,000) has been awarded to Hedgehog Years by Lily Akerman. Third Prize ($1,000) has been awarded to Horse Latitudes (Who Wants to be an Equine Extra?) by Elizabeth Logun.

The Jewish Plays Project (David Winitsky, Executive Artistic Director) is thrilled to present the New York premiere of the future off-Broadway smash hit culinary and theatrical event Raging Skillet, the true story of Chef Rossi, the punk-rock caterer, event maestro, and TV star. The reading-with-food-and-drink of 'Skillet' will star Judy Gold and Marilyn Sokol and be held at the Theater at the 14th Street Y on March 28, 2018 at 7 pm. Merry Craftsmas, a second-annual event featuring three world premiere short plays by Cary Gitter (HOW MY GRANDPARENTS FELL IN LOVE), Jahna Ferron-Smith (SIR), and Ryann Weir (I HEARD SEX NOISES), will play on Sunday, December 17 at 7pm at Ensemble Studio Theatre.

On Monday, September 11, 2017 at 7:00 p.m., Wordsmyth Theater Company will produce a reading of Youth Group, by Cary Gitter. The reading is free and will be held at Main Street Theater, 2540 Times Blvd.
