On Monday, September 11, 2017 at 7:00 p.m., Wordsmyth Theater Company will produce a reading of Youth Group, by Cary Gitter. The reading is free and will be held at Main Street Theater, 2540 Times Blvd.


Cary Gitter is a New York-based writer and a member of the Ensemble Studio Theatre's (EST's) Obie Award-winning Youngblood playwrights' group. His play How My Grandparents Fell in Love was a New York Times Critic's Pick as part of EST's 36th Marathon of One-Act Plays. He is the recipient of a 2017 science-play commission from the EST/Sloan Project. His plays include After Dad, Menorah, Youth Group, and The Smelly Girl, and have been developed or produced at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, EST, the Flea Theater, NYU, the Tank, and elsewhere. He is a Jewish Playwriting Contest finalist and a two-time O'Neill semifinalist, and he received NYU's John Golden Playwriting Prize and an honorable mention for the Kennedy Center's Rosa Parks Playwriting Award.
