Today's top stories: Sea Wall/A Life and Bat Out Of Hell officially open tonight!

Previews are currently underway for Sea Wall / A Life, starring Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Tony Award nominee Tom Sturridge. Now, fans have even more to celebrate as the production has just announced more talkbacks at the Hudson Theatre (141 West 44th Street)!

Jake Gyllenhaal is currently making his Broadway return in Sea Wall/A Life!

This year will see the inaugural Popcorn Group Writing Award in association with the Pleasance Theatre celebrate writing excellence at the Fringe.  Platforming writers and artists that ignite and challenge the status quo, the award will be presented on 14th August at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to the most fearless and topical piece of new writing. 

Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Sturridge just started previews of Sea Wall/A Life at Broadway's Hudson Theatre, and the duo recently took to 45th Street to help cover the back of the theatre with artwork from artist JR and his global art project known as the Inside Out Project. Shakespeare's Globe has announced the 201920 Sam Wanamaker Playhouse Season. Sandi and Jenifer Toksvig have written a new family show dubbed, Christmas at the (Snow) Globe, and a series of candlelit ghost tales will include a new story from Jeanette Winterson. Other events running throughout the season include half-term storytelling festival, Half Term Tales at the Globe, with the new Children's Laureate Cressida Cowell, and a double bill of Virginia Woolf's A Room of One's Own and Three Guineas, marking the centenary year since the removal of the sex disqualification act. The Globe's flagship project for secondary and post-16 students, Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank, reaches its 14th year with Macbeth.

As previously announced, Sea Wall / A Life, which recently played to sold-out audiences at The Public Theater, will open on Broadway this summer, but not without some changes. In a recent interview with AOL, Jake Gyllenhaal revealed that he, his co-star Tom Sturridge, and director Carrie Cracknell are already hard at work on some updates.

The National Theatre today launches the National Theatre Collection, with two new partnerships with Bloomsbury Publishing and ProQuest.
