Finalists Selected for the 2018 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize

The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize has announced 10 Finalists for its prestigious playwriting award, the oldest and largest prize awarded to women playwrights writing in the English language. Chosen from over 150 nominated plays, the Finalists are:

Nadia Latif Named Young Vic Genesis Fellow

Writer and director Nadia Latif has been named the next Genesis Fellow at the Young Vic. Nadia's most recent credits as a director include: Fall of the Kingdom, Rise of the Footsoldier, The Calm (workshop) (RSC); Octagon, but i cd only whisper (Arcola); Homegrown (National Youth Theatre); Even Stillness Breathes Softly Against A Brick Wall (Soho Theatre) and Saved(Drama Centre). From 2009 to 2011 she was Associate Director of Theatre503.

Lisa Palfrey, Hayley Squires, and More Join Young Vic's CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF

Lisa Palfry (Big Mama), Hayley Squires (Mae) and Brian Gleeson (Gooper) with Richard Hansel (Doctor) and Michael J Shannon (Reverend) join the previously announced Sienna Miller (Maggie), Jack O'Connell (Brick) and Colm Meaney (Big Daddy) for the Young Vic production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

Casting Announced For Award-Winning Canadian Play at Finborough Theatre

As part of the Finborough Theatre's celebrations of Canada's 150th birthday, a new production commissioned by the Finborough Theatre of the European premiere of Footprints On The Moon by one of Canada's most acclaimed playwrights, Maureen Hunter, runs at the Finborough Theatre, playing Sunday and Monday evenings and Tuesday matinees from Sunday, 28 May 2017.

BWW Interview: Theatre Life with Jeff James

Today's subject is living his theatre life on both sides of the Atlantic and beyond. Jeff James is the Associate Director for the internationally and critically acclaimed production of A View from the Bridge, which begins performances this evening at Kennedy Center and runs through December 3rd. He has been a part of the current production of A View from the Bridge at the Young Vic in London, London's West End, Theatre de l'Odeon in Paris, and on Broadway where it won two Tony Awards (Best Director and Best Revival of a Play).

The latest instalment of LET THERE BE LIGHT, our series showcasing some of Britain's best theatrical lighting designers, focuses on Lucy Carter. A regular collaborator with Wayne McGregor, as well as numerous other leading choreographers and dance companies, she's also worked on operas and plays, including Husbands & Sons at the National Theatre and Oil, currently playing at the Almeida.

Playing one of the greatest female roles in contemporary drama, Helen McCrory (Medea and The Last of the Haussmans at the National Theatre, Penny Dreadful, Peaky Blinders) returns to the National Theatre in Terence Rattigan's devastating masterpiece. Tom Burke (War and Peace, The Musketeers) also stars in this critically acclaimed new production directed by Carrie Cracknell.
