The Midnight Pine and Stevie Harris Join The Old Globe's Jeff Buckley Tribute, 8/19

The Old Globe today announced that San Diego musical artists The Midnight Pine and Stevie Harris have joined the lineup for the Globe's one-night-only Jeff Buckley Tribute Concert on Monday, Aug. 19 at 7:00 p.m. The concert, which features several prominent local artists covering the songs of the legendary musician, coincides with the Globe's upcoming production of The Last Goodbye, a fusion of Buckley's music with Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

Famous Footwear Expands Internationally

Brown Shoe Company, Inc. (brownshoe.com) announced it will be expanding its Famous Footwear retail chain outside of the United States. On August 1, Famous Footwear will open at Toronto Premium Outlets in Halton Hills, Ontario, joining 84 other designer and name brand retailers.

India.Arie to Play The Orpheum Theatre on 10/27

Multi Grammy winning singer/songwriter India.Arie has announced dates for her highly anticipated Soulbird Presents A SongVersation with India.Arie 2013 North American tour, set to kick off Saturday, September 21st in Seattle, WA. The multi-city trek will include a stop in Memphis, TN at the Orpheum Theatre on Sunday, October 27th. The tour comes in support of India's acclaimed fifth studio album SongVersation (Soulbird/ Motown Records) which released June 25th, received rave reviews, and marks her fifth #1 on the Billboard R&B Album Chart and fifth top 10 debut on the Billboard Top 200 Chart.

Red Baraat and More Set for Omaha Performing Arts' Jazz on the Green, Now thru 8/15

Omaha Performing Arts will again present Jazz on the Green at Midtown Crossing this summer. The free outdoor concert series will run six consecutive Thursdays, from today, July 11 to August 15, 2013, and is located in the idyllic Turner Park in the heart of Midtown Crossing. Starting this year, concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. on the new permanent stage of The Pavilion at Turner Park; the lawn is open beginning at 5 p.m.

The Mexican Museum Introduces New Arts & Letters Council

The Mexican Museum, the premier West Coast museum of Mexican, Chicano and Latino art, culture and heritage, announces its new Arts & Letters Council. The council, whose Honorary Chair is the highly-acclaimed Mexican American film actor, director and producer, Edward James Olmos, currently comprises 51 accomplished arts and letters professionals found across the United States and Mexico, all of whom stand firmly in support of the development and construction of The Mexican Museum's new home at 706 Mission Street in San Francisco's Yerba Buena Arts District.

Latin Recording Academy Names Miguel Bose 'Person of the Year'

Latin GRAMMY winner Miguel Bosé has been named the 2013 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year it was announced today by The Latin Recording Academy. Chosen for his philanthropic and professional accomplishments, Bosé will receive the honor at a star-studded concert and tribute gala on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. The celebration will feature many songs from Bose's catalog performed by an impressive array of notable artists and friends. A portion of the net proceeds from the gala will benefit The Latin Recording Academy's outreach and education programs. The prestigious event will precede the 14th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards, which will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and will be broadcast live on the Univision Network on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central. American Sabor: Latinos in U.S. Popular Music Exhibition Begins 4/20

From Ritchie Valens to Carlos Santana to Selena, the musical contributions of U.S. Latinos from the 1940s to present day will be explored in the free exhibition American Sabor: Latinos in U.S. Popular Music opening at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts on April 20. Created by EMP Museum, the University of Washington, and the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, American Sabor: Latinos in U.S. Popular Music, its national tour and its related programs are made possible by Ford Motor Company Fund. Accompanying the exhibition will be a display of materials on Latino music and dance from the earliest days of recorded sound to the 1940s from The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts collections. A series of programs and screenings are scheduled at The Library throughout May and June. American Sabor: Latinos in U.S. Popular Music will be on display in the Donald and Mary Oenslager Gallery from April 20, 2013 thru July 13, 2013 at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center at 40 Lincoln Center Plaza. Admission is free.
