YoungArts, the national foundation for the advancement of artists, is now accepting applications for its prestigious annual competition.

Lyric Opera of Chicago will hold auditions for solo dancers with exceptional ability in character work, African, modern, jazz, ballet, and social genres for the six-time Grammy Award-winning composer Terence Blanchard's Champion directed by James Robinson and choreographed by Camille A. Brown. Christopher Jackson will be the associate choreographer. August Tye is the ballet mistress.

Today marks the debut of RISE (Representation, Inclusion, & Support for Employment) Theatre, along with the launch of their new tool: The RISE Theatre Directory, a FREE national online directory promoting the visibility of individuals who work backstage, behind-the-scenes, and in support of theatre making.

Keys opened up about the musical's plot and creative team, whic hincludes Pulitzer Prize-finalist playwright Kristoffer Diaz, choreographer Camille A. Harlem Stage has announced its 40th Anniversary Season, a celebration of the institution that has, since its founding, provided an indispensable platform to both emerging and established artists of color working in an array of forms.

The New York Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, has announced the nominees for the 2023 Bessie Awards. This year's Bessie Awards ceremony will be held on Friday, August 4, at 7:30pm, at Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park as part of Lincoln Center's Summer for the City. The event is free and open to the public.

On Sunday, June 18, Camille A. Brown & Dancers will perform at The Music Hall's Historic Theater as part of the Black Heritage Trail of NH's week-long celebrations for Juneteenth.

Dancer/choreographer Clymene Aldinger announces her company CLYMOVE's spring season May 26 & 27, presenting Time Signatures, an evening of nine contemporary dance pieces, all choreographed by Aldinger, and consisting of a series of solos, trios, and quartets, performed by four outstanding dancers whose divergent and contrasting life experiences celebrate the Company's individual uniqueness and shared humanity. 

Battery Dance will celebrate the 42nd Anniversary of its free summer festival from August 12-18, 2023, in partnership with Battery Park City Authority.

The Met: Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera's award-winning series of live high-definition cinema simulcasts, presents Terence Blanchard's Champion at 12:55 pm ET, in the Warner Theatre's Oneglia Auditorium (Main Stage). 

The Metropolitan Opera will present a live transmission of Terence Blanchard’s jazz-inflected opera Champion on Saturday, April 29, at 12:55PM ET as part of The Met: Live in HD series.

Following its Metropolitan Opera premiere on April 10th, Terence Blanchard's opera Champion, based on the true story of the troubled former middleweight boxing champion Emile Griffith, continues with nine performances running through May 13.

In search of new audiences, the Met has followed Terence Blanchard’s FIRE SHUT UP IN MY BONES with the jazz musician/composer’s first opera, CHAMPION, the story of closeted boxer Emile Griffith’s rise and fall from grace. Honestly, never have I heard people whose usual venues are Madison Square Garden, Yankee Stadium and Monday Night Football on ESPN talk about how they “wanted to see the new opera at the Met.”

Champion by Terence Blanchard, with libretto by Michael Cristofer, comes to Greenbrier Valley Theatre this month. The performance is on April 29 at 12:55pm.

On the big screen of the Ridgefield Playhouse from The Met Opera's 2022-2023 season comes Verdi's glorious Shakespearean comedy, Falfstaff. An Encore in HD screening will take place on Friday, April 7, 2023 at 6pm.
