Mike Bindeman will join the North American Tour of BACK TO THE FUTURE: The Musical as George McFly. Bindeman will assume the role in January as Burke Swanson departs the company. 

Is there some sort of formula for roping in both fans of a hit movie and stage hounds, to catch lightning in a new medium? Judging by what the musical's book writer Bob Gale, director John Rando and the musical team must have been thinking, the answer is you slavishly remake the movie on stage.

Back to the Future – The Musical makes its Los Angeles premiere at The Pantages Theatre November 6, 2024, and returns to southern California at Segerstrom Center for the Arts December 26th. John Rando directs the cast of: Don Stephenson as Doc Brown and Caden Brauch as Marty McFly with Burke Swanson, Zan Berube, Cartreze Tucker, Ethan Rogers, Kiara Lee, and Luke Antony Neville, Joshua Blackswan Abbott, Emily Applebaum, Tade Biesinger, Ina Black, Brittany Bohn, Luther Brooks IV, Alyssa Carol, Jenny Dalrymple, Lucas Hallauer, Laura Sky Herman, Dan Horn, Will Jewett, Dwayne P. The 2022 Olivier Award-winning Best New Musical, BACK TO THE FUTURE: The Musical will make its Los Angeles premiere at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre for a limited four-week engagement, from November 5 – December 1, 2024.

'Great, Scott!' Des Moines Performing Arts is opening another season of fantastic shows coming directly from Broadway.  One exciting thing about this season is that all six shows in the season ticket package are in the first year of their national tours. Their 2024/2025 season kicks off with the Lawrence Olivier Award winning musical 'Back to the Future.' While the show won Best Musical in London, it didn't fare as well on Broadway.  While both productions are still running, the question I had coming into this was if the show would hit 88 miles per hour and be a hit or not.

Audiences in Lincoln, Nebraska are abuzz with news of the current sit down of Back to the Future: The Musical currently playing at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. Adapted from the 1985 Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment film, Back to the Future, the show blends original music seamlessly with iconic songs heard in the film. Featuring original music and lyrics from Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, and a book by Bob Gale, who co-wrote the film with Robert Zemeckis, this musical is sure to entertain audiences of all ages. Following an award-winning production in London, Back to the Future: The Musical moved to Broadway in June 2023 where it is still delighting New York audiences today.

Back to the Future: The Musical first national tour made a stop in Minneapolis at the Orpheum Theatre, running until September 22, 2024. This musical is based on the classic 80s film where Marty McFly is transported back to the 1950s by the eccentric scientist, Doc Brown.

= BACK TO THE FUTURE: THE MUSICAL is a fun and faithful adaptation of the 1985 film — but it’s overly long and generically scored. With music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard (Silvestri composed the film’s original score) and book by Bob Gale, the musical has a typical pop Broadway score — with some 1950s flare when protagonist Marty McFly travels back in time to 1955.

Today’s subject Burke Swanson is currently living his theatre life playing the iconic role of George McFly in the North American tour of Back to The Future The Musical. The show is currently playing in the Opera House at Kennedy Center through August 11th.

The DeLorean in the photo looks cute, but the car star of Back to the Future: The Musical (BTTF), at the Kennedy Center through August 11, goes extremely way past cute when Marty McFly and Doc start driving.
