Joe's Pub At The Public Theater Announces 2019 Class Of JOE'S PUB WORKING GROUP

Joe's Pub, a program and venue of The Public Theater, announces the new class of Joe's Pub Working Group (JPWG), the venue's artist development program dedicated to enhancing the career sustainability and growth of performing artists. Entering its fifth year, JPWG welcomes five artists performer and songwriter Migguel Anggelo, composter and vocalist Trevor Bachman, comedian and performance artist Becca Blackwell, jazz musician and composer Yacine Boulares, and singer-songwriter Treya Lam as the core group that represents the diversity and scope of the nightly programming at Joe's Pub.

FringeArts welcomes the most exciting new voices in American comedy to Philadelphia on February 1 & 2 for the inaugural Blue Heaven comedy festival. The festival name references "blue" comedy, or the bawdiest, most risque material in a comedian's repertoire, and Blue Heaven celebrates precisely that with a diverse lineup that pairs cabaret performers alongside nationally-recognized comedians as they tease and interrogate stand-up, improv, sketch, and musical comedy.

Julian Fleisher & His Rather Big Band COME TOGETHER At Joe's Pub

An OG Joe's Pub VIP, Julian Fleisher continues his current crusade to save the world with song, asking not what he can do for his audience but what his audience can do for itself. "Come Together" combines Fleisher's signature, barn-burning covers of contemporary classics, with original tunes meant to illuminate the spaces where change, love, loss and humor overlap with his evangelical belief that the room that sings together, clings together.

Justin Sayre's QUEER REVOLUTION LIVE! Premieres at Joe's Pub In February

Celebrated performer and writer Justin Sayre will debut his new variety show 'Queer Revolution Live!' on Saturday, February 9 and Sunday, February 10 at 9:30 PM. It's the weekend of some kind of sporting event, but we don't care! We're here to create a party all our own! There'll be dance, music, comedy, and everything else you might need to get the year off to its rightful and righteous Queer Beginning. Each night will host a different line-up of Queer Artists from around New York, with Justin Elizabeth Sayre at the helm. That other thing only has a halftime show! This is a FULL-TIME SHOW! Special guests will be announced soon.

ANYTHING THAT GIVES OFF LIGHT To Play Joe¹s Pub In 2019

the TEAM (Rachel Chavkin, Artistic Director; Alexandra Lalonde, Producing Director) the award-winning Brooklyn theatre ensemble, will present Anything That Gives Off Light, a co-production with National Theatre of Scotland and Edinburgh International Festival, from March 14-30 at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street) with preceding runs at Virginia Tech and at Crossing Roots: A Rural-Urban Theatre Workshop presented by Cardinal Cross in Whitesburg, KY. Opening night at Joe's Pub is Saturday, March 16.

FringeArts Announces Two New Annual Festivals

Today FringeArts President and Producing Director Nick Stuccio and Artistic Producers Katy Dammers and Zach Blackwood announced the programming for two new FringeArts festivals. Blue Heaven presents twelve distinct comedy acts over two days this February 1 and 2. High Pressure Fire Service runs from March through June and features six new productions-five world premieres and one expanded remount-from some of Philadelphia's preeminent performers. These exciting new platforms expand FringeArts' already rich roster of programming-the flagship fall Fringe Festival, contemporary circus festival Hand to Hand, and year-round music, comedy, and cabaret performances-and further its mission to present world-class, contemporary performing arts that challenge convention and inspire new ways of thinking.

Kim David Smith Returns to Joe's Pub with KIM SINGS KYLIE

Australian cabaret performer Kim David Smith salutes the perennial pop goddess, Kylie Minogue with an intimately fabulous cabaret-fantasia, celebrating Kylie's catalogue of gargantuan hits and glittering deep cuts, from 1987's 'Locomotion," all the way through to 2018's "Golden." Labeled the "male Marlene Dietrich" by the New York Times, Smith deconstructs three decades of Minogue dance anthems with music direction by the multi-MAC Award winning Tracy Stark, and with costumes by Miodrag Guberinic (Katy Perry, Madonna, Nicki Minaj)

ISLE OF KLEZBOS Celebrates 20th Anniversary at Joe's Pub

ISLE of KLEZBOS, the swinging all-women's klezmer sextet, will celebrate their 20th Anniversary with a special concert Isle of Klezbos: Isle of Manhattan! at Joe's Pub on Today, October 25 at 7:00 PM featuring returning guest artist Natalia Zukerman. The band and spellbinding singer-songwriter - whose father, the classical violinist Pinchas Zukerman, is the son of a Polish-born klezmer player - first melded musical minds earlier this year, exploring poignant Yiddish roots and hidden gems from vintage soundtracks, personal histories, vivid resistance narratives, and soulful sounds of liberation. Spreading joy coast to coast this anniversary year, ISLE of KLEZBOS  latest repertoire also features original klezmer bugalu (boogaloo), lesser-known bawdy traditionals, and luscious retakes on irresistible Eastern European swing and tango. Natalia brings vibrant stories and tunes from her powerful multi-media performance, "The Women Who Rode Away," including lush arrangements with backing Klezbos bandmates. Ars Nova Hosts OVER/UNDER UNPLUGGED, Three Free Concerts

Ars Nova, "one of the most adventurous Off-Broadway companies" (New York Times), under the leadership of Founding Artistic Director Jason Eagan and Managing Director Renee Blinkwolt, will host Over/Under Unplugged, a free concert series following select Friday evening performances of Andrew R. Butler's Rags Parkland Sings the Songs of The Future. Concerts will feature performers from The Future and special guests performing unplugged and up close. They'll #playforchange with any donations dropped in their bucket going to select charities including the National Network of Abortion Funds, The Trevor Project, and The National Eating Disorders Association.

MAX VERNON - the songwriter described by The New Yorker as 'equal parts Bohemia and Broadway' - will launch his first ever residency at Joe's Pub at The Public this fall, Existential Life Crisis Lullaby, on Tuesday, September 25 at 7:00 PM with special musical guests Tonya Pinkins, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Annie Golden, MJ Rodriguez, Gizel Jimenez, Chrissi Poland, Veronica Swift, Morgan Meadows, and Avery Leigh Draut. The September evening will be directed by Ellie Heyman.
