In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 34 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2019 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 21 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.

Kathy Evans, Founding Executive Director of Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, announced applications are open for this summer. Nine musical theatre writing teams will be awarded nine consecutive weeklong residencies in the Hudson Valley between June 30 and September 1. Each team gets a private retreat to focus solely on writing their new musical. All writers are eligible and their musical can be at any stage of development. All costs are covered including travel up to $750, and each writer gets a $500 stipend. Writers with children are welcomed to apply. From memorable favorites with a holiday twist to brand new stories bound to become the classics you recite as you down spiked Egg Nog, Margherita's 70 minute show-stopping set will leave you screaming, "YASSSSS HOLIDAYS!!!" Written by Margherita, "Yule Your Kingdom" is directed and produced by Lauren Bass, featuring musical direction and arrangements by Brett Ryback. 

Laguna Playhouse brings back last year's sensation in an all new outrageous holiday event, THE SKIVVIES: I TOUCH MY ELF. THE SKIVVIES: I TOUCH MY ELF will perform two performances only - Monday, December 10 & Tuesday, December 11 at 7:30pm at Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach.

Broadway star and Olivier Award winner Lesli Margherita (Matilda, Dames at Sea, Zorro) will bring her acclaimed concert act, This Broad's Way, to The Rubicon Theatre as part of the Janet and Mark L. Goldenson Broadway Concert Series.  The concert will be performed for two nights only: Saturday Nov. 17th at 8p and Sunday Nov. 18th at 2pm.

Olivier Award Winner Lesli Margherita will make her debut at The Green Room 42 with a royal holiday extravaganza,  YULE YOUR KINGDOM: The Holiday Remix. The show will play for two nights:  Friday Dec 14th & Saturday Dec 15th at 11:30p.

South Coast Repertory opens the 2018-19 Theatre for Young Audiences series with Nate the Great, Nov. 2-18.

The first of three Monday evening new-play readings at South Coast Repertory for the 2018-19 season will be Eureka Day by Jonathan Spector. The NewSCRipts reading on Monday, Oct. 22, at 7:30 p.m., is directed by Jennifer Chambers. Tickets are available at www.scr.org.

Last night during an exclusive Member event, Michael Gennaro, Goodspeed's Executive Director, announced the next season at The Goodspeed along with two tremendous new musicals set for The Terris Theatre.

As BroadwayWorld has sadly reported, legendary playwright Neil Simon has died at 91. He passed away last night at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City due to complications from pneumonia.
