The bulk of production and engineering on Beneath the Brightest Smiles was handled by Gordon Raphael with mixing by Dave Rowland (Post Malone, The-Dream, Pusha T, Ellie Goulding) at Mercy Sound Recording Studios (Blondie, Cher, Snoop Dogg, TV On The Radio, Yoko Ono, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato) in NYC’s East Village.

Liz Brasher Releases Soul-Inspired Cover of Jack White's 'Love Interruption'

A take on the 2012 Jack White tune, “Love Interruption,” from singer-songwriter LIZ BRASHER is out now. Pulling from her Tennessee-adopted roots (Brasher moved to Memphis after several other stops including Chicago, Atlanta and her childhood home in North Carolina) she chose to cover a song from fellow Tennessean (Nashville resident), Jack White.

Review: THE LONELY FEW at The Geffen Playhouse

Zoe Sarnak’s score rocks. It sounds at times like Blondie or the B-52s (I like the B-52s so that comparison is not a dig here), but is so intrinsically connected to the emotional arch of the story being told that it soars like a musical theatre score should.

Feature: Elyzabeth Diaga Returns to Las Vegas Performing the Queens of Rock

Queens of Rock, a one-woman rock show starring Elyzabeth Diaga, celebrates the music of the greatest female rock icons of the last four decades. She will pay homage to over 15 legends in Queens of Rock, performing at the Orleans Showroom at The Orleans on March 20, March 23, March 24, and March 25.

Review: THE 1980S at Downtown Cabaret Theatre

On Sunday, March 12th, I had the pleasure of seeing yet another phenomenal installment of the Downtown Cabaret Theatre’s Decades in Music series, THE 1980S.  Of the three so far, this one has been my favorite!  THE 1980S is written by Phill Hill, directed and choreographed by Jennifer Kaye, and performed at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport CT.  THE 1980S represents a trip through song, dance, and video clips of the decade I entered as a pre-schooler and left as a high school freshman.  Consistently with the Decades in Music series, the usual stellar cast of Robert Peterpaul, Everton Ricketts, Mikayla Petrilla, and Saige Bryan provide first-rate performances that truly captivate the feel of the decade and radiate positive energy throughout the audience.  The performers have excellent stage chemistry with each other, harmonize well, and truly look like they are having a great time up on stage, and when breaking the fourth wall and interacting with the audience!

Elisapie Shares Gentle 'Uummati Attanarsimat (Heart of Glass)' Cover of Blondie's Classic

Nearly four years after the release of her stunning third solo album The Ballad of the Runaway Girl, Inuk singer-songwriter Elisapie has returned with “Uummati Attanarsimat (Heart of Glass)” an Inuktitut rendition of Blondie's 1979 hit. Translated from English to Inuktitut by Elisapie, and produced by her long-time collaborator Joe Grass.

Salt Ashes Returns With New Single “Heart Attack”

Previous release “Didn’t See It Coming” pushes and pulls throughout. With her signature sound of dark-rhythmic pulsing dance music at play, Salt Ashes lets loose with exhilarating bass and drum kick-offs, while biting synths provide a breathtaking floor for her airy floating vocals to dance across.

Gold Casio Share Debut Album 'Hits Radio'

Gold Casio are set to entrance populations through space-age disco and electrifying visuals. Based in Brooklyn, New York, the group's advanced sounds blend indie-tronic dance rhythms and pulsing psychedelic pop, pulling from a broad spectrum of influences ranging from '80s art pop, nu disco, electro funk and more. With beats and rhythms that ooze Daft Punk or Justice, paired with vocals that sound like a Blondie meets Talking Heads super group, listeners are guaranteed to get these infectious melodies stuck in their heads.

THE CHURCH Share Pop Song 'No Other You'

Reading like a short story from visionary science fiction author Philip K. Dick (“A Scanner Darkly,” “Electric Dreams”), the release of “No Other You” continues the album’s retro-futuristic, dystopian narrative that revolves around a fictional machine (the 'Hypnogogue') that extracts music directly from subconscious dreams.
