Richmond Triangle Players begins its second decade in its Scott's Addition venue with Bekah Brunstetter's new comedy The Cake, opening Friday February 14, 2020, at 8 pm, following two low-priced previews on Wednesday and Thursday, February 12 & 13, at 8 pm. The production, sponsored by Carreras Jewelers, will run through March 7.

Buffalo Theatre Ensemble presents 'The Cake' by Bekah Brunstetter, directed by Steve Scott, Jan.30-March 1 in the Playhouse Theatre at the McAninch Arts Center, 425 Fawell Blvd. The LA Times calls the play 'funny and smart' and observes, 'The Cake' explores human conflict from an insightful, slightly offbeat perch with understanding, respect and compassion for opposing points of view.' There will be a preview performance 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan 30; press opening is 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 31. Performances run through March 1.

The Weird Sisters Theatre Project has selected a brand-new team of female artists to continue producing theatre in Atlanta by women, for everyone. In the vein of the company's mission to foster and cultivate opportunities for women in the arts with a commitment to producing works by women for everyone, they are excited to bequeath their power and responsibilities to the next outstanding producing team. Applications were shared in late summer 2019 with the Atlanta arts community and two rounds of interviews were conducted this fall by a conglomerate of founding members and producers from the outgoing team.

Thanks to an endowment gift from the Eugene B. Casey Foundation, Olney Theatre Center announces the launch of its Vanguard Arts Fund to support collaboratively-developed new works. Starting in the 2019-20 season, the Fund will support an annual series of developmental workshops that push the boundaries of the theater form and bring together exceptional artists from around the region and around the world.

Los Angeles-based playwright Brian Wallace has announced that he will share all future performance royalties for his play Balls Alive!, first produced at the Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks, CA, with the actors. An official signing of the royalty agreement and presentation of the first checks to Whitefire artistic director Bryan Rasmussen and the original cast is set for Tuesday, October 29, at 8pm at the Whitefire prior to the opening night performance of Live Pilots Society. The much in-demand playwright Bekah Brunstetter will west coast premiere her latest MISS LILLY GETS BONED in a Rogue Machine production opening September 21, 2019 at the Electric Lodge. Robin Larsen directs Brunstetter's story involving a captive elephant and its unexpected effects on a virginal Sunday school teacher. Theaterworks Producing Artistic Director, Rob Ruggiero announced the 5th play in its 2019-2020 Season today. Last year's celebrated Broadway comedy, The Lifespan of a Fact by Jeremy Kareken & David Murrell and Gordon Farrell will make its Connecticut premiere January 30th through March 8, 2020. Ruggiero said 'TheaterWorks is one of the few theaters across the country granted the rights to produce this show this year and we're thrilled. It's an ingenious play - a comedic struggle between truth and accuracy and all the grey spaces in between. It couldn't be more timely, more topical.'
