Chicago Shakespeare Theater announces the return of in-person performances at the Theater’s home on Navy Pier with the much-awaited debut of As You Like It infused with the hit songs of The Beatles, beginning October 6, 2021. 

In addition to its six-play membership season, the Montgomery County institution returns with an equally busy schedule of concerts, special productions, presentations, and even more curated programming to build off of the success of its summer series: Olney Outdoors.

The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals, now in their tenth year, kicks off their rigorous professional experience for artists 25 and under tonight with their own production of The 24 Hour Plays: Viral Monologues, featuring the 43 program participants and 12 guest writers from previous years of the Nationals program.

Everyman Theatre is celebrateing the return to live theatre with the first offering in its 2021/2022 season with the iconic family favorite from stage and screen, Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling. The production at Everyman is directed by Casey Stangl and runs from August 10 through September 5.

Pandora Productions has announced auditions for the 2021-2022 In Person Season to be held on Tuesday, July 13 by appointment. This open audition is for actors, singers and dancers who’ve never worked with Pandora Productions before.

Theatre Communications Group has announced the recipients of the first round of the 2021 Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards. The awards, totaling $1,072,000, allow 28 productions extra time for the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, hoping to extend the life of the world premiere play after its first run.

Today, The 24 Hour Plays, creators of The 24 Hour Plays on Broadway, The 24 Hour Musicals and the Viral Monologues, announced this year’s company for The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals, which will be held as a virtual program.

A virtual 25th Birthday Celebration, featuring 25 monologues by 25 playwrights including Boni B. Alvarez, Bekah Brunstetter, Jessica Goldberg, Hilly Hicks Jr., David Ives, David Lindsay-Abaire and Sarah Ruhl, performed by actors such as Enrico Colantoni, Marin Hinkle, Brent Jennings, Megan Ketch, Hamish Linklater and James Tupper, will take place on Thursday, July 1.

“I was looking for something that was less hard on one performer, but also wanted to spread the wealth and hire as many artists as we could for the final Warehouse In Your House production.”

Renaissance Theaterworks has announced their 2021-2022 season, the first full season at the 255 S Water Street Theatre, with the plays originally lined up for their 2020-2021 season: THE CAKE, by Bekah Brunstetter; ACTUALLY, by Anna Ziegler, and MUTHALAND, written and performed by Minita Gandhi.

The Warehouse Theatre, a regional professional theatre based in the Upstate  of South Carolina is presenting LONG STORY SHORT, a short play series showcasing the  talents of nationally lauded writers and featuring some of the region's most recognizable theatre  artists. 

PRIMARY STAGES announced today that they will hold a digital celebration for the 25th Anniversary of The Dorothy Strelsin New American Writers Group on Thursday May 20, 2021 at 5pm ET. The evening will also celebrate Noelle Viñas, the recipient of the 2021 Jeffry Melnick Award.

Sonia Manzano, who spent 44 years performing as Maria and writing for  the popular and enduring children's television series Sesame Street, and who was recently featured in the new documentary Street Gang: How We Got to Sesame Street will begin performances tonight in this live outdoor production of Shakespeare's The Tempest in New York.

In honor of World Press Freedom Day,  PlayMakers Repertory Company will release a limited encore run of the world premiere production of “Edges of Time,” written by Jacqueline E. Lawton. Directed by Jules Odendahl-James, “Edges of Time” will be available to stream from May 3 - 9, 2021.  

Waterwell will present the 2021 New Works Lab world-premiere production of Red Rainbow by Azure D. Osborne-Lee (Mirrors, Crooked Parts, Glass), directed by Kevin R. Free (Welcome to Nightvale, “Gemma & the Bear”).

Ingrid Michaelson who is writing the music for the stage adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks love story 'The Notebook' revealed that she is an emotional 'wreck' writing the music, sharing that it is 'the most exciting thing I've ever been a part of'.
