Art Lab and ShowTown Productions just announced that Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young – former “American Idol” contestants who are married in real life – will co-star in a new virtual production of the 2013 Broadway musical comedy, First Date. The production, directed by Meg Fofonoff, will stream for five performances from July 23-25 on the ticketing platform, Stellar.

ZOEY'S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST is airing an all new episode- 'Zoey's Extraordinary Memory'. The show is airing on a new night, Sunday March 28 (9-10 p.m. ET/PT) on NBC. Zoey’s effort to recreate a cherished memory with Mitch is thwarted by Leif. Max and Mo have their big restaurant opening.

When they are set up on a blind date by their well-meaning friends, Casey and Aaron will have to sing and dance their way through the pitfalls and perils of the dreaded first date in this musical comedy fresh from Broadway! Can this couple turn what could be a dating disaster into something special before the check arrives?

First Date: The Musical, starring Samantha Barks as Casey and  Simon Lipkin as Aaron will arrive exclusively on BroadwayHD on February 12th.  The production, directed by Dean Johnson and produced by Lambert Jackson productions, was live streamed for a limited time in October 2020 from the world renowned Crazy Coqs, a music venue in London.  This is the first time the production will be available to fans since the limited engagement this past fall.

Ucross, a prestigious artist residency program and creative laboratory for the arts in Wyoming, and The Blank Theatre, a Los Angeles institution celebrating 30 years of imaginative theater, today announced the newly created Ucross + The Blank Theatre – Future of Playwriting Prize, a one-of-a-kind award for young playwrights nationwide.

Now celebrating its 28th Anniversary, The Blank Theatre's Nationwide Young Playwrights Festival is set to present 13 plays by playwrights aged 15a?"19 from nine different states. These plays will be presented as digital shorts on Vimeo by professional actors and directors, running from August 8 through September 19. They will then migrate to The Blank's 3rd Stage on Patreon.

Today we rewind to 2013, when First Date arrived on Broadway at the Longacre Theatre, where it played for 174 performances. Led by Zachary Levi and Krysta Rodriguez, the musical featured a book by Austin Winsberg and music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner.

The Blank Theatre in Hollywood has announced a year-long celebration of its landmark 30th anniversary, beginning with announcing the winners of the 2020 Young Playwrights Festival. Thirteen plays by playwrights aged 15a?"19 from 10 different states have been chosen.

With the season finale airing this week, it has yet to be announced whether Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist will be renewed for a second season. However, showrunner Austin Winsberg is hoping for the best.

On Sunday, April 5th's episode of Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, Zoey engages with her father's caregiver's daughter, Abigail , who is deaf, and hears her heart song as 'Fight Song.' The number takes place in the deaf dorm on a college campus and is entirely done in American Sign Language and dance - with no singing and no subtitles.
