Alpha Omega Theatrical Dance Company, founded in 1972, celebrates its 50th Anniversary with the premiere of Once Upon El Barrio, conceived and choreographed by Enrique Cruz DeJesus, Artistic Director since 1998.  Inspiration for his new work has come from the writings of Piri Thomas, poet and author of Seven Long Times, and Savior, Savior, Hold My Hand, and the best-selling autobiography Down These Mean Streets.

Following engagements in the UK, the reimagined 50th Anniversary tour of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR will come to Houston as part of the Memorial Hermann Broadway at the Hobby Center 2022-2023 Season. JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR will play the Hobby Center January 17-22, 2023.

A version of West Side Story featuring animated cats was almost created. Animated film writer and director Christopher Sanders revealed, “Jeffrey Katzenberg once flew me out to New York City because he wanted us to do West Side Story with cats.”

This Christmas, actress, author and vlogger Carrie Hope Fletcher will be making her pantomime debut as villain Carabosse in Sleeping Beauty at The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury. 

Paper Mill Playhouse has announced casting for The Sound of Music, directed by Mark S. Hoebee. The production will feature Ashley Blanchet (Paper Mill’s Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Broadway’s Waitress) as Maria Rainer, and Graham Rowat (Broadway’s Dear Evan Hansen, Sunset Boulevard) as Captain Georg von Trapp.

Casting and creative details have been announced JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, the blockbuster rock opera by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.  This is the first production of WaterTower’s 27th Season.
