Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC), under the leadership of Artistic Director Andrew Borba and Managing Director Sarah Clare Corporandy, will preserve its commitment to new work development by presenting virtual workshops of Charly Evon Simpson's it's not a trip it's a journey, directed by Nicole A. Watson, on July 15, and Heather Raffo's Tomorrow Will Be Sunday (working title), directed by Jenny Koons, on July 22. Both New Play Workshop performances will be offered at no cost; viewers will be encouraged to provide a donation to benefit Chautauqua Institution's Arts Education initiatives in local schools.

NATIVE GARDENS to Tour to 4 Community Partner Venues

The Globe is happy to announce that the Globe for All Tour will continue to bring shows to the community in 2018, with support provided by Theatre Forward's Advancing Strong Theatre grant program. Following the Globe engagement of Karen Zacarias's hilarious comedy directed by Edward Torres, Native Gardens will travel June 28 through July 1 to four of our community partner venues for free performances in South Bay, Lemon Grove, Otay Mesa, and Oceanside. Developed in the 2017 Powers New Voices Festival, it runs through June 24 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, and then hits the road!

UC Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the Arts Department of Drama continues its 2017 - 18 season "The Business of Politics/The Politics of Business" with Professor Andrew Borba's fresh look at Tony Kushner's ever-relevant A Bright Room Called Day. First written in 1985, at the play's center is a group of friends in 1930s Berlin, experiencing the fall of the Weimar Republic and the rise to power of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party. Interspersed with this primary narrative is a contemporary American character, weighing parallels between the rise of Hitler, Reagan-era conservatism and the present day.
