PASS OVER will open the box office of Broadway's August Wilson Theatre early for two days only – Wednesday, June 30th and Thursday, July 1st – and offer a special walk-up offer for ticket buyers who can provide proof of vaccination.

The Lincoln Center Theater production of Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu's play Pass Over, directed by Obie Award winner Danya Taymor will begin performances August 4th, 2021, at Broadway's August Wilson Theatre with opening night scheduled for Sunday, September 12, 2021.

PASS OVER will begin performances August 4th, 2021, at Broadway's August Wilson Theatre with opening night scheduled for Sunday, September 12, 2021. This officially makes PASS OVER the first Broadway show to begin performances since the start of the pandemic, a full month before shows were originally expected to return.

The Lincoln Center Theater/LCT3 production of Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu’s acclaimed, award-winning play PASS OVER, directed by Obie Award winner Danya Taymor (“Daddy”, Heroes of the Fourth Turning) will reopen Broadway’s August Wilson Theatre (245 W 52nd Street, New York, NY) for a limited engagement, with exact dates to be announced shortly. This will mark the Broadway debut of both Nwandu and Taymor. PASS OVER will be produced on Broadway by Matt Ross, Jujamcyn Theaters, Lincoln Center Theater, Concord Theatricals, Renee Montgomery, Blair Underwood, Madeleine Foster Bersin and Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that theatre producer Bernard Gersten passed away this morning in his sleep. He was 97 years old.

Earlier this week was the 13th Annual Yale Drama Series Prize ceremony, which honored playwright Liliana Padilla for her play How To Defend Yourself, and was selected by playwright-judge Ayad Akhtar. This was held at the Claire Tow Theater at Lincoln Center, and culminated in a reading of the play directed by Rachel Chavkin. Also in attendance were previous Yale Drama Series Prize judges including John Guare and Marsha Norman; previous YDS Prize recipients including Barbara Seyda and Neil Wechsler; and Francine Horn, President of the David Charles Horn Foundation.

The 30th Annual Kleban Prize For Musical Theatre reception was held on Monday, February 3.

Rehearsals are currently underway for Lincoln Center Theater's production of the new musical FLYING OVER SUNSET. FLYING OVER SUNSET, with a book and direction by James Lapine, music by Tom Kitt, and lyrics by Michael Korie, will star Carmen Cusack, Harry Hadden-Paton, Tony Yazbeck, Erika Henningsen and more!

The LA Opera and the Metropolitan Opera join forces to co-produce the world premiere of EURYDICE from the creative minds of composer/conductor Matthew Aucoin and librettist Sarah Ruhl; beginning February 1, 2020 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Based on Sarah's 2003 play EURYDICE, this Greek myth unfolds from the heroine's perspective. Mary Zimmerman directs a talented cast that includes: Danielle de Niese, Rod Gilfry, Joshua Hopkins, John Holiday, Barry Banks, Stacey Tappan, Raehann Bryce-Davis and Kevin Ray. Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop) has announced that it will produce Intimate Apparel, a new opera with music by Ricky Ian Gordon and a libretto by Lynn Nottage, based on her critically acclaimed play.  The production, which will be directed by Bartlett Sher, will begin previews Thursday, February 27 and open on Monday, March 23 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street).

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop) has announced that its award-winning production of Lerner & Loewe's MY FAIR LADY, directed by Bartlett Sher, will ends its long run at the Vivian Beaumont Theater on Sunday, July 7. The production, which won the 2018 Drama Desk, Outer Critics and Drama League Awards for Best Musical Revival, will have played a total of 548 performances (39 previews and 509 performances).

Broadway has grown accustomed to her face, and we just can't get enough.  Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop) has announced that Laura Benanti, who recently garnered rave reviews for her performance as Eliza Doolittle, will continue in that role in its award-winning production of Lerner & Loewe's MY FAIR LADY, directed by Bartlett Sher, through Sunday, July 7 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street).      

Music's Biggest Night - the GRAMMYs - is here! Live from STAPLES Center, and hosted by Alicia Keys, the 61st Annual GRAMMY Awards will be broadcast on CBS at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT. 

The annual KLEBAN PRIZE FOR MUSICAL THEATRE presentation took place Monday, February 4 at ASCAP, 250 W. 57th Street. Broadway's legendary musical theater creators and up-and-comers alike, came out to honor this year's three prize winners, perform some of their material, and present the prizes at a reception hosted by ASCAP and BMI.
