BAM R&B Festival returns for two weekends of free performances at Fort Greene Park, set for Saturdays and Sundays, October 2—3 and October 9—10. The widely-known festival, which has grown to become one of Brooklyn's beloved outdoor traditions, brings together the community and groundbreaking artists—from music legends to bold new voices across the genre of R&B.

Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA) will hold its fundraiser GMCLA’s GALA 2021 August 14, 2021. The GALA will be streamed live from the Toluca Lake home of GMCLA Board Members Greg Weaver and Haig Youredjian, with a limited number of donors attending. Hosted by Kalen Allen, the GALA will be honoring Dr. Jerry Abraham with GMCLA’s annual Voice Award. Had the chance to query Greg on his history with GMCLA.

ANCIENT DREAMS IN A MODERN LAND marks MARINA’s fifth studio album and first full-length release since 2019’s acclaimed LOVE + FEAR.

Today Live Nation announced Cindy Agi has joined the Concerts team as their newest Global Tour Promoter.

R&B singing sensation, and 2021 Golden Globe Winner and Academy Award-nominee, Andra Day; and the incredible star of Broadway's Wicked and Waitress, Shoshana Bean will join the GMCLA GALA 2021 Livestream Saturday, August 14. Shoshana performs several songs live and Andra performs in a special video she will create specifically for the event.

There are 89 Oscar nominees, including 25 winners, among the invitees.

The Hollywood Bowl, one of the leading outdoor music venues in the world and the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, was honored as the winner of Amphitheater of the Decade last night at the 32nd Annual Pollstar Awards at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA.

The concert, a celebration of LGBTQ Pride Month, will feature the premiere of BGMC’s latest virtual video, “This Is Me,” along with appearances by Gov. Charlie Baker and Boston Mayor Kim Janey.

The film will have three screenings. One on Friday, June 18 at Cinemark Tinseltown on 290 at 7 PM. A red carpet screening  at Midtown Art Center (3414 La Branch) at 7 PM on Juneteenth and additional two showings on Father's Day at Midtown Art Center at 1 PM and 5 PM.

Tasha's work as an acting coach, through her TSAW Actor's Workshop, has been utilized by numerous luminaries including Mary J. Blige (for her Oscar nominated performance in Mudbound) and most recently with Andra Day.

The latest offering in 42nd Street Moon’s 2021 Moonbeams series is a new virtual production of Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill starring Doris Bumpus as the legendary Billie Holiday. Written by Lanie Robertson and directed by Brandon Jackson with musical direction by Marcus McCauley, the play is both a celebration of Holiday as a musical icon and an exploration of her experience as a Black woman in America. Ultimately, it is a testament to the power of the human spirit to persevere in spite of incredible adversity. Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill is available to stream through May 30, 2021. BroadwayWorld caught up with Ms. Bumpus earlier this week in Miami, where she was celebrating her 28th wedding anniversary. The Michigan native grew up singing in church, taking on her first solo at the tender age of five. The actor/singer/producer has her own production company, D’Sunflower Productions, and also has a pair of EP’s on iTunes, including her most recent release, “God Bless the Child,” which pays tribute to Billie Holiday. Her wide-ranging Bay Area theater credits include playing Dorothy Gale in 'The Wiz' and Effie White in 'Dreamgirls,' receiving a Pan Arts Award for Best Lead Actress for both. 42nd Street Moon audiences will remember her as Jewel in 'The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.' In conversation, Bumpus is easily chatty and ebullient, and her joy in being a working actor is palpable.

Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, D.C. will commemorate their 40th anniversary with an exhilarating virtual celebration “GMCW Turns 40” that is available to stream starting on June 5 through June 20.   

Last night, MPTF (Motion Picture & Television Fund) hosted the 19th annual “Night Before” party, reimagined as a special virtual edition.  Hosted by Wayne Brady, the evening raised nearly $2 million, which will be used to support those in the industry who benefit from MPTF’s charitable programs and services, especially during this unprecedented time. 

Viola Davis and the late Chadwick Boseman were nominated for their Leading Actor roles in 'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom,' the Netflix film adaptation of the 1982 play by August Wilson. The film was also nominated for Best Costumes, Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

The self-penned new album also sees MARINA co-producing six tracks alongside songwriter/producer James Flanigan (Dua Lipa, Carly Rae Jepsen, Hayley Kiyoko) and GRAMMY® Award-nominated producer/multi-instrumentalist Jennifer Decilveo (Andra Day, Bat For Lashes, Hinds).
