Following an extended and sold-out run of The Marvelous Wonderettes, Fort Salem Theater continues their 2021 summer programming with Next to Normal (July 23-August 1), followed by a free reading of Nietzsche! The Musical (August 21), written by Salem locals Kimerer LaMothe and Geoffrey Gee.

Cortland Repertory Theatre is presenting an outdoor “revival” of one of the more popular shows in their long history: the heart-warming musical The Honky Tonk Angels, written by Ted Swindley, who also created the hit musical Always…Patsy Cline. 

Weston Playhouse Theatre Company has announced a return to live performance with the first production of its 2021 season: AN ILIAD, running July 14 – August 6 under the Tent at Walker Farm.

Eight different acts - some new, some returning - will be performing throughout the festival. Performances take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays through Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays.

Stage Rights, the licensing company that represents The Marvelous Wonderettes, has just acquired the licensing and theatrical performance rights to the trio of hit country jukebox musicals (Honky Tonk Angels, Honky Tonk Angels Holiday Spectacular, Honky Tonk Angels and the Mystery of Bubba's Revenge) from Ted Swindley, the creator of Always…Patsy Cline.

Music Theatre of Connecticut MainStage in partnership with Westport Pride, have announced a fundraiser event, Dolls and Guys: A Gender-Bending Broadway Evening, in honor of Pride Month, where half of all proceeds will be donated to Westport Pride!

“Always…Patsy Cline” is more than a tribute to the legendary country singer who died tragically at age 30 in a plane crash in 1963. The show is based on a true story about Cline’s friendship with a fan from Houston names Louise Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in 1961, and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death.

BroadwayWorld had the chance to sit down with members of the team of Always...Patsy Cline currently running at the Circle Theatre in Grand Rapids. We were joined by Chris Grooms (Director), Vanessa Allen (Co-Music Director), Emily Diener (Patsy Cline), and Mary Kate Murnen (Louise Seger). In our conversation, we asked them about the show and what it has meant to get back on stage as we emerge from the pandemic.

Circle Theatre continues their 69th season with Always...Patsy Cline. Circle Theatre’s first live musical production of 2021 will take place on the lawn of the Performing Arts Center, located on the campus of Aquinas College, from June 3-20.
