Gretna Theatre announced its 99th Anniversary Season in Mount Gretna, PA, featuring four mainstage productions including ALWAYS… PATSY CLINE, A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN, MURDER AT ACKERTON MANOR, and HAIR, plus special events.

Heidi Armbruster brings heart and humor of real-life mystery of “Mrs. Christie.” Agatha Christie created more than 80 mysteries over her legendary career, but only one didn’t come with a solution. It’s the one she created when she disappeared for 11 days in 1926. Christie never explained her disappearance, but plenty of other writers have given it a try. The latest is playwright Heidi Armbruster, with her comedy “Mrs. Christie.”

Milwaukee Repertory Theater will continue its inaugural season in the Associated Bank Theater Center with Mrs. Christie, a witty new play that blends mystery, memory, and the magic of storytelling.

Moving Shakespeare’s classic plays to different, usually more modern, environs is not new — and doesn’t always make the transition with losing something in translation, but the Milwaukee Rep’s “Romeo and Juliet” — presented in Appalachian dress and accented with bluegrass, folk and country music — is a most successful pairing – unlike the titular lovers.

Love and laughter are just what a Wisconsin winter needs, and just what the Milwaukee Rep is serving. They have something insanely special with this updated adaptation of a Shakespearean rom-com classic. For me, this is a Rep season favorite that will be tough to top.

What did our critic think of TITANIC THE MUSICAL at MILWAUKEE REPERTORY THEATER? Something epic has set sail once more at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater. Remounted after having to close early due to a COVID-19 outbreak last April, this show has been years in the making. It's the company's single largest production in their 70-year history, and Titanic the Musical is every inch a spectacular, tremendous achievement.
