Shavanna Calder (she/her) is an actor, anti-racist educator, writer, creative director, stylist, human. As a performer she recently completed a run of The Legend of Georgia McBride at Milwaukee Rep & Arizona Theatre Company. Other favorite credits include: Caroline, or Change (Emmie), HBO’s Los Espookys, SNL, Grammys, Hairspray (National Tour), For Colored Girls (Lady in Green), CBS ‘Best of’ Diversity Sketch Comedy Showcase. Additionally, she is the fortunate recipient of UCB’s Diversity Scholarship where she studied improv 101 and 201. Outside of performing she is a Consulting Director of Antiracism Initiatives for TYA/USA and recently co-produced and co-hosted their Listen, Learn, Lead: Antiracism in TYA Series, a nationwide learning program that served nearly 1,000 TYA professionals. She holds a Master’s Degree from NYU and also received her BA from Wellesley College where she studied Sociology & Cinema and Media Studies. She is first generation and still identifies as a sociologist at heart. Member of Actors Equity Association.
