Yichen Zhou BIO

Yichen Zhou is a theatre designer born and raised in China, and is currently pursuing an MFA in Lighting Design at the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale. In her practice of scenography, she is deeply fascinated by the stories told through space and the truth one can find through imagination. Selected recent credits include: Invasive Species (The Tank), Marys Seacole, Ghosts (DGSD), BurnBabyBurn (Yale Summer Cabaret), If We Could Turn Back Time (Connecticut College), A Number (Beijing Inside-Out Theatre).

Assistant directed by Louisa Jacobson (“The Gilded Age”) with dramaturgy by Amauta M. Firmino (Slave Play), Invasive Species began performances on Saturday June 3 at The Tank (312 W 36th St, New York, NY, 10018) and will run through Sunday June 11, 2023. Michael Breslin Directs New Play INVASIVE SPECIES At The Tank


The Tank in association with Playhouse presents INVASIVE SPECIES, a new play by Maia Novi, directed by Pulitzer Prize finalist Michael Breslin (Circle Jerk, This American Wife), his first solo directing project. The play follows a young Latina actress as she navigates mental health issues and the challenges of fitting into the American entertainment industry as an immigrant artist. Invasive Species will run from June 3 - 11 at The Tank.
