Tony Nominee Alison Fraser Joins Actors Fund Concerts Honoring Barbara Siegel on Jan. 27


In an unprecedented outpouring of support by performers, a second show had to be added to accommodate the number of stars that wanted to sing in honor of Barbara Siegel's contributions to the theater as first an Outer Critics Circle Nominator and then a Drama Desk Nominator (the latter, 18 years, 12 of those as chairperson of the Drama Desk Nominating Committee).

Jason Robert Brown, Nellie McKay & More to Perform at Nightlife Awards, 1/27


Tony Award winning composer/performer Jason Robert Brown (The Bridges of Madison County, Parade), MacArthur Genius Bill Irwin (Old Hats, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?), and Recording and Concert Star Nellie McKay (Old Hats, The 3 Penny Opera) have been announced as the first wave of guest stars scheduled to perform at the 2014 Nightlife Awards at The Town Hall on Monday, January 27th at 7 PM. Almost every week hereafter, more guest stars will be announced, and soon after the holidays the winners, who will perform to show why they were chosen -- will finally be announced to the public. The winners will not make acceptance speeches because the Nightlife Awards is the only All-Performance Award Show.

Bruce Vilanch to Return as Host for 2014 Nightlife Awards


Bruce Vilanch, winner of 3 Emmy Awards for writing TV's Oscar telecasts, the popular center square on Hollywood Squares, and the Broadway star of Hairspray, returns for his record 5th appearance as the host of the New York NIghtlife Awards at Town Hall on Monday, January 27th, 7 PM at The Town Hall. Vilanch will be joined on stage by a cast of performers chosen as the most outstanding nightclub entertainers of the past year by the very press that covers them. As in the past, a wide array of major stars from a variety of mediums will both entertain and introduce the winners in support of New York nightlife.

Producer Scott Siegel announced this morning that tickets will be go on sale today at noon via TicketMaster for the 9th Annual BROADWAY UNPLUGGED concert in which today's Broadway stars sing like the stars of yesteryear: without microphones! Unplugged! In this age of head-splitting, over-amplifcation the sound of the pure human voice soaring through the orchestra and then sailing up into the balcony of an acoustically pure concert hall is to hear Broadway show music at its most thrilling. This year's cast is headed by two of Broadway's most in-demand stars, CHEYENNE JACKSON and LAURA OSNES. They will lead a cast of upwards of twenty sensational singing stars on Monday, December 3rd at 8 PM at The Town Hall.

Deadline.com reports that Kevin Sussman has been promoted to a series regular for the sixth season of CBS's THE BIG BANG THEORY. The actor portrays Stuart Bloom, a manager of a comic book store frequented by the show's main characters.

In addition to the previously announced Marc Kudisch, Emily Skinner, Daniel Reichard, Manu Narayan, Jill Paice, Jeffry Denman, William Michals, Lisa Howard, Bill Daugherty, and Sarah Jane McMahon, the cast of this unique concert that features the entire cast singing without microphones (the way it used to be done on Broadway) now also includes opera star John Easterlin, who won two Grammy Awards this year, as well as Nightlife Award winner David Colbert, and Broadway stars Tony Yazbeck and Janet Metz. The show's producer/writer/host, Scott Siegel has revealed that more star announcements are forthcoming.

Broadway Goes Without Mics for the 5th Time in 'Broadway Unplugged' Nov. 17


The glorious experiment that began five years ago with a concert featuring great singers, singing great songs, but without microphones in a 1,500 seat theater, has blossomed into a annual celebration. The concert is attended every year by musical theater lovers who crave the sound of the pure human voice and the opportunity to hear great Broadway music the way it was originally performed, with nothing between the singer and the audience except the truth.
