As a director Mr. Brotebeck has helmed the Off and Off-Off Broadway productions of The Shark Play, Breaking The Shakespeare Code, St. Francis (NY Fringe – Excellence in Directing Award), The Maltese Walter, Greasemonkey and Scenes from a Balcony. Kennedy Center: Spring Gala (Director), My Fair Lady, Camelot and Children Of Eden (Associate Director/Choreographer). Additional credits as a director/choreographer include Lesser Known Loesser, New Musical Voices at The Old Globe; Peter and the Starcatcher, Monty Python’s Spamalot, And The World Goes ‘Round, and I Love A Piano at Farmers Alley Theatre; And The World Goes ‘Round, The Spitfire Grill at Okoboji Summer Theatre; Looking For Roberto Clemente at Imagination Stage; American Songbook Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony presented by Michael Feinstein. Out of 163 submissions, the San Diego State University New Musical Initiative has chosen In a Sunshine State as this year's selection. Writers T.C. Lind, Derek Gregor, and Phoebe Kreutz will join with director Stephen Brotebeck, music director Robert Meffe and the SDSU MFA Musical Theatre cohort for a two-year development process and world premiere in the spring of 2024.

Written by Lynne Shankel and Crystal Skillman, this world premiere production will be directed by Professor Stephen Brotebeck, and music directed by Professor Robert Meffe from the School of Theatre, Television, and Film. 

Cotuit Center for the Arts Present the Cape Cod Debut of ST. FRANCIS


Cotuit Center for the Arts present the Cape Cod debut of St. Francis, an original play written by and starring Miranda Jonte and directed by Jason Mellin. St. Francis opens in the Vivian and Morton Sigel Black Box Theater on May 5, 2022 and runs through May 22, 2022, Thursdays–Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2:00pm.
