Tony, Grammy, and Emmy award winning composer/writer/musician David Yazbek and his band were on the stage of 54 Below last night playing some of his new songs from an upcoming album. They also played some great music from the Yazbek songbook and from his Broadway musicals.

Award-winning composer/clarinetist Sam Sadigursky has announced the release of his latest recording project The Solomon Diaries. Sadigursky was seen onstage in the band of The Band's Visit. He will reunite with the show's star, Katrina Lenk, who is a guest vocalist on the album. Oklahoma! musical director Nathan Koci also appears on the record.

It's often said that a debut album encapsulates the lifetime of experience leading up to its recording. Given all that the GRAMMY-nominated Taylor Eigsti has done since the release of his last studio album, the pianist's ambitious Tree Falls is practically his second debut. Scheduled to be released on May 21 by GSI, it marks the triumphant return of an artist who's been both a global road warrior and a constant—and consistent—composer.

The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture, the arts center of the Archdiocese of New York, and New England Conservatory (NEC) present two of the most powerful big bands today as part of NEC Jazz50, a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the NEC Jazz Studies program.

The Philip Glass Ensemble (PGE) will give the Philadelphia premiere of Philip Glass's monumental work Music in Twelve Parts presented by the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 6pm. Music in Twelve Parts runs five hours, with two intermissions and a dinner break. This marks the first performance in Philadelphia by the Philip Glass Ensemble in 21 years.

The Hoff-Barthelson Music School Faculty Concert Series continues on Friday, February 7, 2020, at 7:30 pm with a performance of works in celebration of the School's 75th Anniversary. Works featured on the program are from the time of the School's founding and include Amy Beach's Piano Trio; Witold Lutosławski's Dance Preludes and his arrangement of Variations on a Theme by Paganini for two pianos, four hands; Leonard Bernstein's sublime Sonata for Clarinet and Piano; and Dmitri Shostakovich's Piano Trio No. 2 in E minor, for violin, cello and piano, Op. 67.

This January, The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture (18 Bleecker Street at the corner of Elizabeth Street in NYC), the arts center of the Archdiocese of New York, offers a dynamic line-up of music, theater, talk and gallery exhibition events. Events include a theatrical event for young audiences exploring social media and social responsibility in our schools; a commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day with The Museum of Jewish Heritage; and a celebration of children's creativity through the visual arts.

New York-based vocalist Svetlana will return to Joe's Pub at the Public on Saturday, September 21st to celebrate the release of her new album Night At The Movies, which was officially released today! The star-studded album, which has already garnered praise and attention from the likes of WBGO, JazzTimes and Jazziz Magazine, is her second release as a leader. The show begins at 7pm and tickets are $20.
