Juilliard Historical Performance, the school's graduate-level, full-tuition scholarship program for early music enters its 10th anniversary season with a full schedule of concerts and tours. Its primary period-instrument ensemble, Juilliard415, will be working with distinguished artists Paul Agnew, Kristian Bezuidenhout, William Christie, Richard Egarr, Nicholas McGegan, Robert Mealy, Rachel Podger, and Masaaki Suzuki, and making his Juilliard415 debut, Pablo Heras-Casado. The season also features international appearances in Paris at the Philharmonie de Paris and in Germany at the Gottingen Handel Festival as well as a second tour of New Zealand.

Ensemble Connect Presents Audience Engagement Intensive

After a successful launch of the pilot program in summer 2017, Ensemble Connect once again presents the week-long Audience Engagement Intensive (AEI) from June 4–11 in Carnegie Hall's Resnick Education Wing. Seven pre-formed chamber ensembles selected from across U.S. and Canada—ranging in styles from classical to contemporary to folk music—come together to learn from leaders in the fields of performance and audience engagement. The eight days of tuition-free workshops are modeled after the training that is provided to Ensemble Connect fellows and is aimed at strengthening their ability to connect with all kinds of audiences. The ensembles are The Raritan Trio (New Jersey), Sprig of That (Minnesota), Catharsis Winds (Ohio), Kahlo String Quartet (formed in Mississippi), Trio Gaia (Massachusetts), Front Porch (Michigan), and Genesis Trio (Vancouver, Canada).

The Daniel Saidenberg Faculty Recital Series features annual appearances by the Juilliard String Quartet (Monday, November 19 and Monday, March 25, at 7:30pm, in Alice Tully Hall) and the American Brass Quintet (Monday, September 24, at 7:30pm, in Paul Hall), as well as recitals by violinist Laurie Smukler and pianist Robert McDonald (Monday, February 4, at 7:30pm, in Morse Hall), violist Samuel Rhodes and friends (Tuesday, March 19, at 7:30PM, in Paul Hall), and a chamber music concert with faculty members, violinist Catherine Cho, violist Hsin-Yun Huang, cellist Natasha Brofsky, and pianist Robert McDonald (Thursday, February 14, at 7:30pm, in Paul Hall).
