SUNNY AFTERNOON to Set in the West End This Autumn

After almost 900 performances in London, and having been seen by over half a million people, audiences have just one month left to catch the multi-Olivier award-winning hit British musical, SUNNY AFTERNOON. The production will conclude its West End run on 29 October this year, after more than two years at the Harold Pinter Theatre.

Last night, Monday 28 July, was the Opening Night of the Gershwins' Porgy and Bess which runs at Regents Park Open Air Theatre until 23 August. After the show, cast, creative team and invited guests enjoyed a summer drink of Canard Duchene Champagne on the lawn of Regents Park Open Air Theatre, accompanied by Belly Pork Croquettes with Roasted Corn Cream and Lemon Cone Trees. Celebrated as a landmark piece of American theatre with iconic songs including 'Summertime', 'I Got Plenty of Nothing', 'I Loves You Porgy' and 'It Ain't Necessarily So', Porgy and Bess will be directed by Regents Park Open Air Theatre's Artistic Director Timothy Sheader, with a book adapted by Suzan-Lori Parks and a musical score adapted by Diedre L. Hampstead Theatre's Kinks Musical SUNNY AFTERNOON Eyeing the West End, Big Screen?

The Daily Mail reports that Hampstead Theatre's SUNNY AFTERNOON might soon be transferring to the West End -- or even the big screen. Actor/director Dexter Fletcher allegedly appeared at the show with film producers Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich to scout the production. As far as a potential West End run goes, no news yet on the timeline or the theatre. BWW will keep you updated as we know more!

Hampstead Theatre brings the talents of an exciting young cast to Sunny Afternoon, the story of the early life of Ray Davies and the rise to stardom of The Kinks. Featuring some of The Kinks' best loved songs, including You Really Got Me, Waterloo Sunset and Lola, and with choreographer Adam Cooper joining the creative team, Sunny Afternoon marks the 50th Anniversary year of the band's debut release.
