Trinity Repertory Company celebrated its 27th Pell Awards Gala on June 9, honoring outgoing artistic director Curt Columbus, philanthropist Paul J. Choquette Jr., and Teatro ECAS artistic and executive director Francis Parra. The evening featured performances by Trinity Rep resident company members and a special presentation of the Key to the City to Columbus by Providence Mayor Brett Smiley. Known for championing bold new plays, local stories, and nationally recognized initiatives in diversity and education, Columbus has shaped the theater’s artistic vision since 2006. A nationwide search for his successor is now underway.
