Judd Hirsch is an award-winning actor whose career has spanned more than six decades across film, television, and theater. He earned Academy Award nominations for Ordinary People (1980) and Steven Spielberg's The Fabelmans (2022), becoming one of the oldest Oscar acting nominees and setting the record for the longest gap between acting nominations. His other notable film credits include Without a Trace, Teachers, Running on Empty, Independence Day and its 2016 sequel, A Beautiful Mind, The Meyerowitz Stories, and Uncut Gems.
Hirsch rose to prominence on television as Alex Rieger in the hit sitcom Taxi (1978–1983), winning two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. He later starred in Dear John, earning a Golden Globe Award, and appeared in series including George and Leo, Numb3rs, Forever, Superior Donuts, and Mid-Century Modern. His many guest and recurring television credits include The Big Bang Theory, The Goldbergs, Maron, Hunters, Warehouse 13, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, God Friended Me, American Dad!, and Doc.
A celebrated stage actor, Hirsch has won two Tony Awards for Best Actor in a Play for I'm Not Rappaport and Conversations with My Father. His additional theater credits include The Hot l Baltimore and Talley's Folly, cementing his reputation as one of the most accomplished performers of his generation.
