Gary Schweikhart, president of the Carbonell Awards, South Florida's Theater & Arts Honors, has announced the recipient of this year's prestigious George Abbott Award which will be presented at the Carbonell Awards Ceremony on Monday, November 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center at 3800 NW 11th Place, Lauderhill, FL 33311.

The George Abbott Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Arts will be presented to commercial theater producer Jay H. Harris, a member of The League of American Theaters and Producers who served on the Board of Directors of the Carbonell Awards from 2001-2008, including two terms as president, during which time he was instrumental in rising the profile of the awards and designing its current voting structure.

After receiving critical and popular acclaim for a sold-out fall limited engagement, "Say Goodnight Gracie," will play its final performances through January 8th at Off Broadway's St. Luke's Theatre (308 West 46th Street). But no rest for the weary - the production starring Joel Rooks asthe lovable George Burns will launch a national tour this winter in Florida starting January 11 at Orlando's Abbey Theatre, Jacksonville's Wilson Center for the Arts starting February 29th, and then traveling to The Aventura Arts & Cultural Center with performances beginning March 14th.
