Gustavo ZajacGustavo Zajac is an international Director and Choreographer.
On Broadway, he worked as Associate Choreographer for "Fiddler on the roof" starring Alfred Molina, for "Nine" (Best Revival Tony Award) starring Antonio Banderas and Chita Rivera, and for "Wise Guys" starring Nathan Lane.
He choreographed "Evita" at the Repertory Theater in St Louis, MO. (Best Choreography. St Louis Theater Circle Award)
In Argentina, he directed "Fiddler on the Roof", "An Act of God", "Victor Victoria" (Critics Award Best Director in a Musical), "Man of La Mancha", and associate directed "Little Shop of Horrors". He choreographed "Applause" (Critics Awards Best Musical) and "Nativo" (Best Choreographer Buenos Aires City Theater Awards). He directed and choreographed some of the most acclaimed tango shows in Buenos Aires at Madero Tango, starred by some or Argentina´s most recognized tango singers and dancers.
In Japan, he was guest choreographer for the 100th anniversary of the Takarazuka Revue
Company. He conceived, directed, and choreographed the musical “Argentango”. He
also choreographed "Nine" in Tokyo and Osaka and staged Lorca's "Yerma" and "Blood
Weddings" in Yokohama.
In Korea, he directed and choreographed the musicals "Bernarda Alba" (Best Musical Korean Theater Awards), "Barnum", "Cyrano", "Fiddler on the Roof", "Lovers in Paris", and "Sweet Come to Me Stealthily".
In Mexico, he directed and choreographed "Timbiriche the Musical".
He teaches Jazz Dance and Musical Theater extensively throughout Argentina, Uruguay,
Brazil, Paraguay, Ecuador, Spain, and the US. He is a guest professor of Theater Dance atPoint Park University International Summer Dance Program in Pittsburgh, PA, and at
Steps on Broadway, in New York City.
He was Artistic Director and Choreographer of the Argentinian version of the
internationally known TV hit "Your Face Sounds Familiar".
He received a Fulbright Scholarship to study Musical Theater and Dance in New York
City and was granted the Honorary Recognition Award in Dance and Choreography by
the Argentinian Dance Council.

MasterVoices continues its 2019-20 season on Thursday April 2, at the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Artistic Director Ted Sperling will lead a concert staging of Bizet's Carmen in its original Opéra Comique version, with dialogue rather than recitative, sung in English translation by award-winning Broadway lyricist Sheldon Harnick. His translation of Carmen was commissioned and premiered by the Houston Grand Opera in 1981 and served as the English text for Peter Brook's ingenious 90-minute La tragédie de Carmen which was performed at the Vivian Beaumont Theater in New York in 1984. The MasterVoices performance will mark the New York premiere of the full translation.
