BWW Review: Gina D'Acciaro Blows the Roof off Rockwell Table and Stage

Actress/singer Gina D'Acciaro has a crazy actor's life which may sound like that of many other performers...New York auditions, moving to LA with no money, waitressing, being a nanny and struggling through a myriad of other jobs to stay on her feet. However, ... it's the way in which D'Acciaro tells her stories that makes this show Famous Adjacent - in its encore presentation at Rockwell Table and Stage - such a big winner. She utilizes an exceedingly fast paced delivery, eliding all the words of the anecdote into what sounds like one big hilarious runon

BWW Review: Rousing Vocals & Hilarity Rule UMPO HOME ALONE

Kate Pazakis and her talented creative team once again incorporate their 'secret sauce' in concocting a most delicious holiday treat for Rockwell revelers - THE UNAUTHORIZED MUSICAL PARODY OF HOME ALONE. The 1990 John Hughes classic Home Alone receives Pazakis' UMPO treatment, resulting in a most side-splitting production with their clever choice of pop songs, re-worded to 'fit' the Home Alone narrative, and boosted by the always witty (and subtly topical) dialogue of Ray Wetmore and Pazakis.

BWW Review: Actors Co-op's To-Die-For Musical LUCKY STIFF is Full of Quirky Charm

Before Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty teamed up for iconic works like Ragtime, Once on this Island, and their current Broadway hit Anastasia, they wrote a crazy little musical called LUCKY STIFF. It was their first collaboration and, though it never made it to Broadway, it won the pair a Richard Rodgers Award for Musical Theatre and launched a 30-year partnership that has helped shape the genre ever since.

Standing Room Only to Present One-Night Thomson & Desmon Musical Concert 9/28

New York songwriting team, Jeff Thomson and Jeremy Desmon are each multi-award-winning theater artists, whose partnership has yielded all kinds of musical magic. Now they're bringing some of their favorite tunes to the Left Coast, with a show at Rockwell Table & Stage for one night only, September 28th 8:00pm.

BWW Review: Sierra Madre Has a Summer Hit with SPELLING BEE

Talk about quirkiness and how it makes a musical rock! The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is terribly funny in a smart, slick, offbeat manner with prize worthy characterizations of lively eclectic people. It may be a tad long like the actual spelling out of words (that are not to be believed!)yet the exaggeration and contestants' varied reactions give rise to some great comic moments...and I love the audience involvement! Some of the contestants are picked from the audience and their ad-libs lend one.of.a.kind hilarity. The unpredictability in denouement is another big plus in the overall enjoyment of the show. It's like a real contest. Who will win is anybody's guess!
