Actor Reed Uthe takes on the challenge of portraying nine characters in the Tony Award-winning musical comedy, A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE & MURDER. The show opens at The Lewis & Shirley White Theatre at The J on March 9.

Padgett Productions, best known for ROCKY HORROR and EVIL DEAD THE MUSICAL, has stepped from its usual genres to inspire Kansas City audiences with the comedy-drama STEEL MAGNOLIAS, and Kansas City should be glad it has. What a fantastic show to bring to the main stage of MTH Theatre at Crown Center. STEEL MAGNOLIAS is a limited run through May 21.

Kansas City's Community Theater, The Barn Players, played to a packed house at their annual Barney Awards celebration, Saturday evening, January 25th at their Arts Asylum stage. This free yearly gathering celebrates both the volunteerism and artistic achievements of those who contribute to the Barn's ongoing success.

The Barn Players Community Theater, now located at the Arts Asylum, finishes up their 2019 main stage schedule with a good production of Blake Edwards'Victor/Victoria based on the 1982 smash hit film of the same name. Victoria complains that she is disadvantaged as a performer because she is a woman. This amuses Toddy and hatches the germ of an idea. Instead of presenting Victoria as pretty young soprano of excellent ability, he will present her as Victor, a Polish nobleman and the world's greatest female impersonator. The ruse succeeds and Victor becomes a star with Toddy as her producer.

Ms. Nichols directs a cast of twelve, including Krista Eyler, Joel Morrison, Kay Noonan and Kipp Simmons with Whitney Armstrong, Erica Baruth, Jennifer Cannady, Stasha Case, JC Dresslaer, John Edmonds, Mark Murphy, and Rob Reeder. The hilarious production of the French musical La Cage aux Folles currently plays at the Barn Players in Mission, Kan. The musical based on the play by the same name by Jean Poiret opened on Friday night November 7 and runs through November 23. Kipp Simmons directs the Barn Players production with musical direction by Martha Risser and choreography by Rob Reeder.

Opening this Today evening at the Barn Players is 'La Cage Aux Folles' - the hilarious musical that won six Tony Awards and was made into the popular movie 'The Birdcage'; the show will play through November 23rd with performances Today and Saturday evenings at 7:30 and Sunday matinees at 2:00 at the Barn Players, 6219 Martway in Mission, it is the theatre group's final 2014 regular season production.
