Favorite premieres include Sheldon Harnick's A Doctor in Spite of Himself (Jeff McCarthy, Jose Llana, Burke Moses, Anthony Rapp, John Schuck, Elena Shaddow, Patrick Richwood), Judith Steir's Only a Kingdom (Max von Essen, Jill Paice, Donna Lynne Champlin), Carey Ramos/Lamont Dozier's Many Happy Returns (Matt Cavenaugh, Jenny Powers, Nick Wyman), Joan Ross Sorkin's (mis)Understanding Mammy (Drama Desk nominee Capathia Jenkins); Sorkin/Steven Fisher's In the Theatre (Beth Fowler, Judy Kaye); Ed Dixon's Scenery (Lynne Wintersteller); and Jonathan Larson's Saved! An Immoral Musical on the Moral Majority (also co-author, ASCAP Award). David was born in a tiny Iowa farm town, raised in western Michigan and central Virginia, graduated from Adelphi University on Long Island, and now spends a lot of time in his Upper West Side backyard, Central Park, with Rufus, the most amazing Brussels Griffon ever.
