Random Acts celebrates Halfway to Halloween with the return of the Random Acts of Terror Festival, launching April 15th at the New 400 Theatre and streaming online through April 22. Downtown Urban Arts Festival Kicks Off Next Month


The DOWNTOWN URBAN ARTS FESTIVAL will present 16 plays (nine shorts and seven one-acts.) The festival kicks off on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6 when Savion Glover and Reg E. Nuyorican Poets Cafe To Host Anti-Gentrification Event


On December 5th, the Nuyorican Poets Cafe proudly presents a panel with Jeremiah Moss (author of Vanishing New York), Sarah Schulman (author of Gentrification of the Mind) and Betty Yu (co-founder of the Chinatown Art Brigade). These activists and authors will discuss the personal and social impacts of gentrification, and explore effective forms of anti-gentrification activism. The talk will center on the history, and current state, of gentrification in the Lower East Side. Poetic performances by muMs, Caridad De La Luz, and Darian Dauchan will finish out the night.

The Barrow Group Presents World Premiere Of Lyle Kessler's PERP


The Barrow Group, under the leadership of Co-Artistic Directors Seth Barrish and Lee Brock and Executive Director Robert Serrell, closes its 2018-2019 season with the world premiere of Perp by Lyle Kessler. Cherry Lane Theatre (Angelina Fiordellisi, Founder; Seri Lawrence, Artistic Director) is proud to kick-off its Obie Award-winning Mentor Project with this year's first production, The Maturation of an Inconvenient Negro (or iNegro) written by and starring Kareem M. Lucas, mentored by Craig 'muMs' Grant.
