The festival officially kicked off at Joe's Pub on May 5th and began performances on Wednesday, June 7th when two-time Tony Award winner Savion Glover and Tony Award and Grammy Award Nominee Reg E. Gaines came together for a conversation about theater and their Tony Winning Bring in da Noise Bring in da Funk musical.

Random Acts celebrates Halfway to Halloween with the return of the Random Acts of Terror Festival, launching April 15th at the New 400 Theatre and streaming online through April 22. Opening night will include the premiere of Ghostwritten starring Jay Duplass and Orange is the New Black's Maria Dizzia.

The DOWNTOWN URBAN ARTS FESTIVAL will present 16 plays (nine shorts and seven one-acts.) The festival kicks off on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6 when Savion Glover and Reg E. DOWNTOWN URBAN ARTS FESTIVAL, which presents new works that shine a spotlight on contemporary urban culture, announced its 20th Anniversary season awards.

Downtown Urban Arts Festival will celebrate its 20th Anniversary with James Earl Hardy's B-BOY BLUES THE PLAY. Directed by Broadway World Award nominee Christopher Burris, performances will run June 3 - 25 at Theatre Row as the centerpiece of the 2022 Festival.

The New Ohio Theatre and IRT Theater Archive Residency world premiere of iNegro, a rhapsody, begins performances tonight at New Ohio Theatre (154 Christopher St.) in New York City! iNegro, a rhapsody is written and performed by Kareem M. Lucas, with production concept by Stevie Walker-Webb, and directed by Zoey Martinson.

On September 23rd, the Oscar-Qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival will once again host a star-studded Opening Night celebration. On Thursday, May 20 at 7:00pm ET, the Apollo Theater and ImageNation will bring together a diverse collection of short films by Black creatives in an array of genres from documentary and experimental to psychological thriller in an evening that explores the creative process from four different perspectives.

Poetic Theater Productions has announced their annual festival of new poetic theater, Poetic License: Renewal. In honor of a new decade, and in celebration of 10 years of poetic theater, this year's festival will feature live performances from Wednesday, March 4th through Sunday, March 8th at the Wild Project, located at 195 East 3rd Street. Poetic Theater Productions announces their tenth annual Love Redefined showcase, Love Redefined: RENEW to take place Wednesday, February 19th, 2020 at 8:00pm at Judson Memorial Church, presented with Judson Arts. Love Redefined is a celebration of radical love of self and others with a night of poetic, theatrical, and musical remixes, re-imaginings and riffs.

Studio Theatre and Artistic Director David Muse have announced that Reginald L. Douglas will join the organization as its new Associate Artistic Director later this month. Douglas comes to Studio from City Theatre Company in Pittsburgh, where he has served as Artistic Producer since 2015.

On December 5th, the Nuyorican Poets Cafe proudly presents a panel with Jeremiah Moss (author of Vanishing New York), Sarah Schulman (author of Gentrification of the Mind) and Betty Yu (co-founder of the Chinatown Art Brigade). These activists and authors will discuss the personal and social impacts of gentrification, and explore effective forms of anti-gentrification activism. The talk will center on the history, and current state, of gentrification in the Lower East Side. Poetic performances by muMs, Caridad De La Luz, and Darian Dauchan will finish out the night.

The Barrow Group, under the leadership of Co-Artistic Directors Seth Barrish and Lee Brock and Executive Director Robert Serrell, closes its 2018-2019 season with the world premiere of Perp by Lyle Kessler. Under the direction of Ms. Brock, Perp is scheduled to run at The Barrow Group (312 West 36th St.) from March 16 through April 11, with an opening night of March 25.

Cherry Lane Theatre (Angelina Fiordellisi, Founder; Seri Lawrence, Artistic Director) is proud to kick-off its Obie Award-winning Mentor Project with this year's first production, The Maturation of an Inconvenient Negro (or iNegro) written by and starring Kareem M.
