REWRITES - the showcase for new musicals started by The Lowry, Salford in 2017 will present Nel's Place - a new musical from Sheep Soup. Nel's Place examines what material things really mean to us, and how easily we can become buried by the past.

Family Tree directed by Matthew Xia is about Henrietta Lacks; a woman who made one of the greatest medical contributions after her cells were taken from a cervical-cancer biopsy. “HeLa” cells became the first immortal human cell line to reproduce infinitely in a lab. The piece teaches us about how Lax’s cells today are still helping with polio, cancer, herpes, Covid 19, flu and continue to be widely used to advance biomedical research and medicine.

Casting has been announced for the World Premiere and National Tour of Mojisola Adebayo’s award-winning play Family Tree, presented by Actors Touring Company (ATC) and Belgrade Theatre Coventry in association with Brixton House Theatre. 

A further extension has been announced for the run of London's longest running immersive theatrical production THE GREAT GATSBY. Created and directed by Alexander Wright, THE GREAT GATSBY is now playing at Gatsby's Mansion at Immersive LDN in Mayfair until 30 October 2022.

Talawa Theatre Company has revealed the line up for Talawa Firsts 2019: the annual festival dedicated to new Black British theatre writers and makers. By offering a platform to present new work and participate in developmental workshops, Talawa Firsts champions the depth and breadth of new theatre making and writing, representing the diversity of Black voices in theatre and the performing arts. Talawa Theatre Company has announced details for Bite Your Tongue: a new devised theatre production from London's emerging Black talent. Coming to Hackney Showroom from 31 August - 2 September, Bite Your Tongue is a response from the city's young theatre makers to issues with language and communication in a multi-cultural city.
