Next Life Theatre Company has announced their second NYC production, a workshop reading of a fresh new adaptation of The Scarlet Pimpernel. This workshop will be one night only, October 21st, 2025 at 9PM at The RAT in DUMBO, Brooklyn.
Featuring a script co-adapted by Next Life’s Artistic Director Brayden Stallman and Literary Manager Ava Pirie, this bold retelling of the classic French novel by Baroness Orczy puts this classic vigilante story into the world of modern day superheroes.
Marguerite St. Just has fled the Eastern United States and started a new life in the West, cementing herself at the top of polite society as a renowned scientist and wife of CEO Percy Blakeney. When an old friend from the East comes calling asking Marguerite for any information she has on the vigilante superhero the Scarlet Pimpernel, Marguerite must navigate balancing her old life and the secrets of her past.
The cast features Mary Kim as Marguerite St. Just, Adam Schween as Percy Blakeney, Brant Zheng as Zane de Tournat, Stephanie Adumatioge as Harmony Chauvelin, Joe Chacón as Andrew Fouls, Francesca Savonne as Mrs. De Tournat, and Brandon Horyczun as Armand St. Just/Various.
The production team consists of Brayden Stallman (Director/Co-Adapter), Ava Pirie (Co-Adapter), Elizabeth Muriel (Producer), Gretchen D’Amato (Technical Director), and Niamh Sherlock (Marketing Director).
Tickets are pay-what-you-can, $15 suggested + one drink. Please contact nextlifetheatre@gmail.com with any further inquiries and questions.
